Apartment life….SUCKS!

So, four nights a week (M-Th), I spend the night in a company apartment while working out of town. I’ve only been here a couple of weeks, but big foot upstairs has made it unbearable. Between the loud TV, stomping around, loud bangs (who drops that much heavy schit?) and the bed squeaking, I'm at my breaking point. Who wants to get a schitty night of sleep, work 10-11 hours and repeat it again.

I’ve contacted the apt complex twice and it’s only gotten worse. Today was epic when he got home. The building actually shook. I talked to my neighbor next to me and they said the tenant before me moved out because of him.

I’ve recorded audio, but it doesn’t do it justice.

Of course, I’m thinking retaliation, with deep base or high frequency speakers directed on the ceiling every once in a while, but that’s just fantasy.

Short of moving, what are my options? The apt complex gave me the number of the community resource officer, but I’m hesitant to call him….for now.

Edit: Going home on Friday evenings never felt so good. 🙌🏽

Edit 2: I use a phone app for white noise and a fan as well. They don’t overcome the carnage upstairs.

well look at the bright side-
Once someone breaks out your car window, steals your stereo, and your car gets dented up in the parking lot, then everything you mentioned won't feel so bad.

Talk to the company about getting a different apartment? Or maybe even renting a small house?

The really amazing thing about that photo is the actor that played that part. My wife loves mystery movies/TV. She used to watch "Monk" and the police captain, that could not be a part more different from the part in Silence of the Lambs, was played by the same guy.

I can see that going sideways quick. I thought about getting a couple of the neighbors together to make a group effort with the complex to either have him tone it down or kick him out.

I’ve already told my manager about the place, so moving may be what happens.

I wish I could post audio, but it wouldn’t have the same affect as being here.

when i lived in manhattan, one day i was walking out the door of my building as this girl was walking in. i was carrying my guitar. she stops me and says, oh your the one, you play beautifully. i asked her where she lived and she pointed to her door, right there on the first floor. i lived on the 6th floor! i was pretty horrified. i had no idea the entire building could hear me all those years because the building was built 1908 and was rock solid. i never heard anything

i left in 2004 and that was the last time i rented an apartment.

Thought a WWF (ya, it was a long time ago) match had broken out on my ceiling in 1992. Went upstairs and a numbnuts was slamming ice cube bags down on the kitchen floor.

Also, that same numbnutz (Hi Chad) was in my <100 kid class from kindergarten through graduation.

That's a pretty good idea.
Draft a letter, get sigs, and submit to the complex.
Maybe they will do something.

Life's short. Have the company find a different apartment. Work, sleep, repeat....

I'm an analog synth geek. If you need me to record some seriously low frequency bass tones with randomized modulation waves.....I got this. Put a 100 watt sub against the ceiling, and let the games begin.

Hmmmm….

So tempting! I’d like to recreate the Havana syndrome in his apartment! When I leave Friday morning for work, I drive home after work and could leave it up against the ceiling for four days.

Lol, ah the joys of workin away from your main zipcode. I had a similar situation in a motel i lived out of during the week. Problem was the room above was running trix so ah quite bouncy bouncy. All. Nite. Long. Every mornin the pimp was there on the balconey bangin on the door to collect. I simply spoke with the motel nite manager, explained the situation, could he do a brutha a solid n help out a frequent returning customer. Problem solved!

about 8 years ago, we had an empty nest. We sold our house in the burbs and moved to an apt in town. 1 The apt was very well made so that sound didn't carry from apt to apt very well. 2 When we were looking, we only looked at top floor apts. We had an apt that we wanted, but were going to submit the application in the morning. The leasing agent called us the next morning and said that it had been leased. We thought, "well, what the hell, we'll check an apt that's not on the top floor." We were in an apt and about 5 seconds in, we heard a little kid running and jumping on the floor above. That cured us in less than 15 seconds. We spent about 7.5 years in the same apt complex, but 3 different units, and would only consider the top floor.

First year of marriage was my only apartment living…houses ever since. Not looking forward to the day I have to go to the OFH (old folks home). We did own a unit in a high rise condo for a while (for rental purposes). I still remember walking down the hallway and having to smell everybody else’s dinner cooking.

I find that when I am in a strange bed/location, I sleep better if I use ear plugs, and have a fan running for white noise. The right set of earplugs won't make you ears hurt, won't protrude into your pillow, and will make everything go nearly silent.
