I've seen a lot of stupid auto accessories, but this might be the stoopedest ...

Maybe this is hugely popular and I've been under the proverbial rock, but still, WTF???!!!

Lots of people park and eat in their car where I live. Beats putting everything on the passenger seat.

No doubt some moron will drive with it in place...

We went on a recent road trip to Central Indiana. Stopping for lunch and gas we stopped in Rolla, MO. We tried three different fast food places, all of them had the dining room closed, and only had the drive through open. I ain't eating in my car!

We got gas, and just started driving around and spotted a local BBQ place. Not great BBQ, but not too bad, and the dining room was open for a sit down meal at a table.

For a road warrior looking for a fast meal on the road that might not be a bad thing, especially in a rental car.

I have one - and use it often. When travelling, and I just want to "stop and go" and eat quickly in my PARKED car, it works great -- keeps the crumbs off my 'budda' (as my wife calls it.). Also works well when you need a hard surface to write on.

At the track, I use it when I get my grub and bring it back to my pit / paddock area.

It is far more versatile than you think.

I was driving into work in DC a few years ago, through Old Town Alexandria. Looked over to my left as something caught my eye in the dark.

It was a woman with a tablet on her steering wheel watching the morning news as she drove. I laid on the horn and she stopped. But honestly who does that crap? I'm sure by now she has one of the food trays from OP's post

When I go to the Supercharger, probably 2/3 of the owners are hanging in their cars. It's 20-40 minutes on average, and there isn't always something to do nearby. So this would make a lot of sense for anyone with an electric vehicle who charges away from home/work.

I need one of those for the Tundra Cafe. It would be a big enhancement to the dining experience.

I think this is an order of magnitude dumber.

Hey, I just noticed your location Norm. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/clap.gif

All I can say is Glen must be an awfully sloppy eater if he can't eat in his car without making a mess.

^^^ Good point....it's a nice EV accessory.

stomachmonkey 08-13-2021 08:59 AM

Don't get me started on cup holders.

stevej37 08-13-2021 09:08 AM

I like it!
It even has a place for your beer.:)

Although I don't think it would handle tall-boys when cornering.

It is much like Jethro Bodine and a blizzard of crumbs or sauces flying everywhere!

I don't mind a few pieces of jerky on a road trip in the car, but for a meal, I prefer to eat at a real table with a nice air conditioned or heated restaurant. Even in the trusty El Camino, I don't eat in my cars. On a road trip to Alabama back in early February in a rental car, no other choice but eat in a car as all the restaurants closed dining rooms.

I actually just ordered one since you can't drive with it.

I spend probably an hour or so every week parked and working. I was in DC yesterday and parked in the shade for 45 minutes since I was early to a meeting.

My traffic phobia, which I won't change, just gets me places earlier during the work from home era.

That should be illegal.

I love the reference/comparison to a "heads up display".

WAF idiot.

stevej37 08-13-2021 11:53 AM

Genius design.
Ever try to find a flat surface to set things on when behind the wheel?

Almost impossible.

Okay, okay, upon further review, this accessory has its place and can be very useful.

That's not the way this works. Double down and call the other people whatever political insult works for you. Or them.

cantdrv55 08-13-2021 01:23 PM

I pull over, put that thing on and prop my laptop on there to get some work done.

sugarwood 08-13-2021 03:04 PM

Brilliant accessory.
Ever hear of a "drive thru" ?
Lots of people eat fast food and now eat in cars due to COVID.
