One of the really good guys here
I want to thank Bob Kontak for helping me out. And i want others to know what kind of great people participate here.
My daughter's car was having an issue and I'm in Virginia visiting my brother. Bob reached out to me after seeing my thread about my transmission line failure thread to let me know if my daughter needed help he was only 15 minutes away. Well today my daughter called telling me she had a noise in her car and I'm too far away to help. I reached out to Bob, a guy I only know from Pelican forums, and he fixed an issue with my daughter's car with nothing more than my promise to pay him. So thanks Bob! And looking forward to meeting you in person this Sunday. I can't express what it means to me that you did what you did. It speaks a lot to the person that you are. Bob "squirrel man" Kontak? Yeah, I heard of him. Kinda squirrely, but a good guy.

Im going to meet him on Sunday and if he will let me, dinner and a few beers are on me. It means a lot to me that someone not only says they'll help but they do it when called upon. Thats the sign of a good friend and I've really done nothing to deserve his friendship.

The other guy is Unclebilly. I can't thank that dude enough. We were up in Calgary a couple winters ago and my Duramax sprung a tiny fuel leak so I asked here for a suggestion on diesel shop. He offered me his shop and access too all his tools at his farm and told me his wife is expecting me should I need to use his place to fix the truck. He was out skiing or snowmobiling in BC. This is just someone whom I have never met but a frequent Pelican. How cool is that? Hats off to Unclebilly. Once again, thank you so much for the offer.

I offered my empty house to a member's kid at the Miata board as he was working his way to LA for an internship. I figured that this wonderful young PhD can stay for a couple of months until he get settles in. Too bad Covid stopped that in a hurry. |

K8udos to both of you...and of course, your daughter.
Some good friendships formed from/on this board. Fond memories of being a pit stop for Ron & John both...when here on Ron's "big rides". May Ron RIP...

Not just on OT either. A couple of years ago I posted a WTB in the used parts forum for a mounting post for a hood badge. One of the guys sent me one for free along with a cool quarter from his state.
