More than 100,000 people flooded streets in France over the weekend and multiple COVID vaccination centers were vandalized as opposition grew to the government’s most recent pandemic strategy. In President Emmanuel Macron’s latest incarnation of lockdowns, government officials have decreed that unvaccinated individuals will no longer be allowed to enter cafes, restaurants, theaters, public transportation and more.

Needless to say, people were not happy.

France’s approach is unique, but it’s just one of many countries around the world imposing new restrictions as fears grow over a new variant of COVID-19. Australia’s recent restrictions have placed half the country under strict lockdown—even though a record 82,000 tests had identified just 111 new coronavirus cases—while restaurants in Portugal are struggling to survive amid newly imposed restrictions.

One country not making much news is Sweden.

Perhaps not the best source but, as I said, the most recent. Other more reputable news websites said the same things, but those reports were a few days or a week or two old. The fact is, Sweden has had very low case rates for many weeks and are not having a case spike at all. Worldmeter confirms this.

Their cases are starting to creep up. Will will know more in a couple of weeks if cases continue to climb and if the number of deaths follow.

I hope it stays low.

As I said twice already, other news sources report the same thing, and worldmeter confirms the low case rate - so far.

Then again, if I do indeed represent the beginning of the end of our country, then I've finally had an impact on world events. So I have that going for me.

It's so much more interesting and entertaining and educational. We all might learn something from such a discussion.

Travel to Sweden during the corona pandemic (updated 2021-08-05).
Foreign citizens age 18 and above need to document that they do not have an active covid-19 infection in order to enter Sweden, or present the EU Covid Certificate or equivalent when entering from EEA*. This does not apply to entry from the Nordics.

There is an entry ban and required negative covid test in effect for travels to Sweden from non-EEA* countries until 31 August 2021. Max 48 hours can have passed from the test was taken until border crossing.

From another EEA* country, until 31 August, it will be possible to enter Sweden with an EU covid certificate or equivalent. Please note that a certificate of vaccination or recovery will not be accepted for entry from a non-EEA* country.

More information can be found in the Swedish Police FAQ.

As a general rule, foreigners travelling to Sweden from a non-EEA* country will be denied entry and rejected. There are exemptions for EEA* citizens and a select number of identified countries outside EEA*. Those covered by an exemption still need to present a negative covid-19 test, unless they also are exempted from the test requirement. A certificate of vaccine or recovery can not replace a negative test when entering directly from a non-EEA* country. If you transit in the EEA* or the Nordics, entry restrictions from the transit country will apply if you are processed through immigration there.

I can only laugh at how some people are upset that different opinions exist and consider it the end.
My country was FOUNDED on differences of opinions.
And they didn't have "trusted websites" to quote from and tell them what to think.
