How are the coastal pelicans doing?

Joe Bob 08-22-2021 09:12 AM

We gotta crapload of rain.....looks like you be next. Good luck!

pwd72s 08-22-2021 09:16 AM

West Coast sure could use some of that...but momma nature does what she does.

A strange thing happened Friday night. Forecast was for zero percent chance of rain, and it was clear until about 10 pm. Then it poured, I mean buckets. We got over an inch of rain in 30 minutes. It flattened corn plants and brought down limbs. Within another 30 minutes it cleared off and no more rain.

VINMAN 08-22-2021 09:47 AM

Bunch of rain here trough the night. Some coastal flooding but really not that bad.

This is basically what it’s been like for the last 14 hours and looks like this will be the next 10 as well.

The weather is not what I thought of when I saw this new thread topic from flatbutt.

That’s how deranged I am.

Perhaps it is my Bacchanalian proclivities and my fondness for nubilistas that is to blame.

17 inches in 24 Hours in TN , not even a tropical storm :-(

We were in Southern West Virginia all last week, and had almost non-stop rain from TS Fred. We are now back in NW Ohio to 95*, and sun.

Ugh...seriously ****ty day.... although it could have been much worse..

Last year Isaias, a limb dropped and crushed part of my garage..

Sandy, didn't have power for 11 days

This is just rain.. haven't experienced any wind..

For some reason Nassau county has a bullseye for rain/flooding..

Oh, I have a roof leak

And my basement is flooding...

I live 120' from a canal, and maybe 800' from a pond, and there are numerous streams that find there way to the bay, some covered over some not..

So the water table here is high normally.. I expect to deal with basement flooding for a few days at least

Fortunately the pond that I live on is 20 feet lower than my basement and the street out front drops away from my house in both directions. If my house floods I'll be hitching a ride with Noahs' descendants.

Cape May County, we are in good shape, wet mostly at night fortunately didn't hinder the Country Music Fest. Carrie Underwood played in a torrential down pour. A few fast moving storms during the day. Minor flooding.

I hope it all worked out for you folks!

Weird weather yesterday. No rain was predicted and it poured, lightning, the works. Lost power twice for two hours each time...got the generators ready in case I need power to the sump pumps.

The power outage was confined to my area...lightning strike. The Electric COOP in our area is fantastic. I went and watched:cool:

as a teenager we prayed for storm surf. Those waves don't look to be more than 1 or 2 foot faces. I bet the surfers were bummed.

Sooner or later 08-23-2021 04:07 AM

Hoping for the best to all of you.

No the surf really didn't build, and not much wind either. It was pretty disorganized. I didn't pay much attention to it but I think it stayed pretty much off shore so we didn't get much of what we normally would. It was more of a nusnance than anything.

The worst thing that happened was we had a rookie lifeguard die in an unfortuante accident. Life guard boat he was rowing got hit broad side by a wave and rolled the boat, the boat hit him in the head and he was knocked unconscious. He was airlifted to Cooper Medical Center.

Yeah, very sad, 16 years old. It was his dream to be a lifeguard.
