he was sitting in the cop car doing the report and the cop asks "which one is yours?"
his reply........"the green one"LOL

When I go bicycling, I have to train my eyes to look away from obstacles, since I ride where my eyes go. Was your roommate looking at the other truck intensely, when he plowed into it?

Any pretty chicks involved or indirectly responsible?

I find this trend worrying...people are getting bigger and bigger trucks to "feel safer" which in turn just makes other buy the same. Fuel consumption goes up, and all that weight doesn't help "active safety" either. Worst of all, they feel invincible in those cars which worsens trafic discipline even further...

It's a downwards spiral...

This trend started long ago....

Generally, I think people who drive trucks and SUV's have a inherent responsibility to drive slower and more cautious than others due to the larger mass and strength of their vehicles. This responsibility is similar to a big rig driver but on a smaller scale.

I've heard the same argument from people who just bought the newest, biggest, badded SUV - "I need to protect my family!" Then I ask them "What happens when everyone else gets a bigger SUV than yours?" All I get are dumb looks at that point.

The other funny one is people around here try to justify the 4x4 (that they never use) by saying "So I can go to Tahoe" When was the last time you went to Tahoe? "Um, 4 years ago..." What did you drive? "Um, a Honda..."

I drive a 4x4 truck. When I pull my boat, the 4 wheel drive gets me back up the ramp with no drama. I have had to unhook my boat at the ramp before and connect a chain or strap to 2wd trucks to help get them back out of the water. The last one was a Chevy. I drive a Ford. It was just like the commercial. I wish I'd had a camera. Really it's a function of 2wd. Doesn't matter who makes it. I've pulled Fords up too.

Big boat + steep, algae covered ramp + 2 wheel drive = lots of spinning, smoke, cursing, and short life span of rear tires.

Not every Porsche driver has an image problem related to his manhood, and not every 4x4 driver has wasted his money on equipment he won't use.

Sorry for the tangent Bell

There's nothing wrong with a 2wd tow vehicle for the right purpose. Sounds like it's a better fit for your roommate. At least he didn't have the trailer behind him when he had the accident.

All I thought when I saw those pics was "ouch"! That's a fair amount of mass coming together, and dead center frontal impact on the other guy's truck. Lucky if no one was hurt.

I've always liked trucks, since I was a little kid in the sandbox, they are great when you have use for them. But the other guys are right, here in the city plenty of people drive them for some stupid 'image' thing. Different story in Montana, Idaho, etc.
