Entertaining new Sci Fi - The Tomorrow War on Amazon Prime

I watched The Tomorrow War tonight on Amazon Prime. It's a time travelin', alien fightin', savin' the world kind of movie. There's action, emotional ups and downs, aliens, guns, explosions and even a little comedy.

It's not deep or meaningful, so I don't want to hear about that.

I like Chris Pratt and Yvonne Strahovski and think they and the other actors did a good job.

If you enjoyed Spectral, I think you'll enjoy this one.

That’s been out for a long time now.

A great sci fi series on Prime is "The Man in the High Castle." A really captivating show.

I need to get back to "The Tomorrow War" and always meant to check out "The Man in the High Castle."

Old, lesser known sci-fi movie I think is great is The Man Who Fell to Earth. First movie David Bowie did, and he's very appropriate for it. Also stars Candy Clark, Buck Henry, and Rip Torn.

I really enjoyed this movie.
- It had lots of original ideas and I liked the dad daughter relationship stuff.

It's certainly worth seeing but it felt like "Starship Troopers" at times.

Yes, it was released the beginning of July. It's practically a classic now. :D

I don't want as much TV/Movies as Shaun, so for me to see something that's only two months old, that's what I consider "new" compared to seeing something for the first time that's 2, 3, or 5 years old.

I watched the first season, and I think the first episode or two of the second season years ago. I really liked it. I'm not sure why I didn't finish it.

Good call on the ST similarities, although it didn't have the campiness of ST.

I liked ST too.

As a long time Science Fiction fan I enjoyed it. They blowed up stuff real good, and had a decent plot.

Great show. Cast did some incredible acting. Great ending. Instead of dragging it to the shark jump the series ended at the right time.

I have also read Phillip Dicks book of the same title. The series is very different but both were entertaining and kept my interest captivated.

Has all the goofy plot problems of a time travel movie. But still fun.

I thought the Dad daughter thing a bit too contrived but I guess a necessary plot device.

Starship Trooper, one of those that I will pop on whenever i see it while channel surfing.

I love that movie, my wife hates it.

Same with 5th Element "muuultipass"

Yep, ST and 5th E are fantastic.

I liked the dad/daughter thing. I also liked the little detail of - send old folks back in time so there aren't two of them at the same time, and send young folks back that haven't been born yet for the same reason.

Liked the movie overall. But for this angle.

I thought it was gonna be about a war on Amazon Prime.

vash 09-07-2021 10:13 AM

good movie.

I like the actor that plays his wife. ( I suffered through most to Chuck to watch the actor that plays his adult daughter - I am not proud)

the wife; she is in another film, NOT like this one at all called THE HUNT. it was such a weird fantastic film..

Yes, Yvonne S made Chuck bearable.

The wife played the autistic girlfriend of Sherlock Holmes in the series "Elementary" for a bit.
