Emergency tire inflator.. what do you use/recommend?
My daughter called me (I have a feeling I'm gonna have a few threads that start this way) to tell me her low tire air pressure light was on. The manager where she works has an Inflate-R
https://www.amazon.com/Inflate-R-Portable-Compressor-Emergency-Inflator/dp/B08PSM3DN3/ref=asc_df_B08PSM3DN3/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=475689981997&hvpos=&hvnetw= g&hvrand=10441482175147398414&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqm t=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9015981&hv targid=pla-1095671264631&psc=1 I'm not sure how fond I am of it being battery powered only. But it's also a flashlight. It has a built in pressure gauge so that's nice. Right now they have a buy 2 get one "free" for $150 but that's really only saving about $21 for the three. Maybe I'm just too old school? I like the idea of plugging it into the cigarette (aux 12 volt port today) lighter like this one does. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082VZPP23/ref=sspa_dk_detail_3?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B082VZPP23&pd_r d_w=tohYg&pf_rd_p=5d846283-ed3e-4512-a744-a30f97c5d738&pd_rd_wg=oIQkw&pf_rd_r=DFNCFF67JDJ4A4 XMQAYP&pd_rd_r=134901c9-4372-41ce-8e10-ba775cf91347&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFLMEZE QUNUMzhSR0wmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA4NDg4NjUzUU5UMEk0UE VMRjZIJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA1MTk3NTQzUVNDVTdTVUQx SExDJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfZGV0YWlsX3RoZW1hdGljJmFjdG lvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== This one only costs $25. I can buy two for less than the price of the battery powered unit. So what do you guys think is a good emergency inflator? |
^^^ Me likes it ... that's pretty cool!

i have two that plug into the cig lighter. 1 in the 911 the other in the vw. both different brands. can’t recall brands but i can look. doesn’t matter anyway since i’ve only used each once and can’t speak to how dependable they are. the times i used them, they did work. however, one of them was a gift to my dad who used it and it blew the fuse in his jeep so he gave it back to me. i tried it and didn’t have that issue.
to be honest i actually prefer using an old fashion style hand pump that i also use for my bikes. i would go to a bike shop and buy one of those. i don’t trust the pressure gauges on those chinese electric pumps to check pressure i have kept one of these in each of my vehicles for many years…i love how if you overshoot the psi, you just press the button to let air out to get psi perfect https://www.summitracing.com/parts/joe-32307?seid=srese1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlNjphNzi8gIVjJ yzCh32EQppEAQYByABEgKn9vD_BwE i also keep a puncture/plug kit in the 911 because i wouldn’t trust the spare tire…..i haven’t had to use it yet but i understand they can be difficult to use |

AAA and a can of slime tire inflator.

Did some looking and it appears a 500 CCA battery is standard for the 2.5l 4cyl Fusion. I think I'm gonna get her the 1000 model.

Yes, for years, I carried a plug kit, and I used it. I haven't carried it in the Boxster. |

I just bought this for home and car:
Kensun Portable Air Compressor Pump for Car 12V DC and Home 110V AC Swift Performance Tire Inflator 100 PSI for Car - Bicycle - Motorcycle - Basketball and Others with Analog Pressure Gauge (AC/DC) Visit the Kensun Store. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J8Y90XG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I wanted the option of AC/DC. Comes in a nice case - $70 For all other emergencies - I agree: AAA |
I have one in my El Camino and my 911. The El Camino has a good sizes storage area behind the seats. So it is a larger unit with lots of plastic case to make a neat looking compressor package. That is way too big for the 911. Long ago I looked everywhere for a minimal size, not fancy case, air pump. I found one that fits next to the spare tire in the right front corner. I have to use a plastic grocery store bag to wrap up the cords and keep it together. It would take 30 minutes to inflate a tire, but it will do it.
I may look for a newer one designed for motorcycles. Size is the big thing for a 911 trunk space. Over the years on two occasions in 30 years I have walked out to my El Camino and had a really low tire. I just pumped it up, and drove to a tire repair store close by. |
This thread made me realize that when I removed my lighter and replaced it with a dedicated USB port I made the portable compressor in the trunk useless.

Partly why I just put one of the cigarette lighter USB adapters in my 911. I can take it out and still have a 12v option. |

I do actually test my pumps once per year. Yea, I am a geek, but a a pump that does not pump is just the definition of trash. |

https://kensun.com/pages/about-kensun-inc They have a yellow version, an orange version and even a 2.0 version. Does Pelican sell something similar? I assume they probably do. |
I have Viair compressors in a couple of my cars. They work really well. Battery clamps are better than a Light plug. The inline gauge is accurate enough.
They have a few price points - off the top of my head I think I have the 300 model. A quality tool that works well and doesn't take up much space. |
Since I have a Ryobi One blower, hedge trimmer and screw gun I already had the batteries so I picked up the inflator at HD for $37. Or you can get this one with battery and charger. Works great!
For jump starting I have one of the small battery packs I picked up at Costco for around $60. https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-ONE-18V-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-Power-Inflator-Kit-with-1-5-Ah-Battery-and-18V-Charger-P737DKN/311788879?mtc=Shopping-B-F_D25H-B-D25H-025_028_COMP_AIRTOOL-NA-NA-Feed-SMART-NA-NA-Compressors_SmartShopping&cm_mmc=Shopping-B-F_D25H-B-D25H-025_028_COMP_AIRTOOL-NA-NA-Feed-SMART-NA-NA-Compressors_SmartShopping-71700000086275870-58700007344551323-92700065840707507&msclkid=04fd633fdd5219bfadf4020d 9e321521&gclid=04fd633fdd5219bfadf4020d9e321521&gc lsrc=3p.ds http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1630684316.jpg |

I thought about going with Dewalt since I have an abundance of batteries but the battery boost and air compressor combined just seems like such a good option that I went that direction. |

Send her down and we'll fix the tire tomorrow? On a trip with the 911 I carried a high volume bike tire pump. I think I still have it at the shop. She can borrow. |
I prefer the 12V...carry a battery powered one and it'll be like a flashlight that is a handy storage unit for dead batteries. A car driven regularly should have a charged battery.

I use a "pony" size SCUBA bottle and the first stage of an old regulator that brings the pressure down to about 120 psi. Works great. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1630714833.jpg
|
I have four of these, one in each car/truck:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0762N8Z4V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1630721855.jpg I've used these things to re-air up the tires on my Land Cruiser after lowering pressures for off road use. I've used them to inflate a tire on the 911 after plugging it when it picked up a screw (with a 100 liter tank, this, plus a plug kit, serve as my "spare"). I used it when I had a slow leak in a brand new tire on the Boxster (since fixed). Cheap. Works. Apparently "unavailable" right now, at least from Amazon. Maybe someone else... |

Once all the butt wipes figure out the connections....you should be able to charge, download, transfer anything. I gotta crapload of cable to do nothing but charge or transfer crap...Fookinnidjuts.

I’ve used the Porsche pump out of my Cayenne a few times and it works very well. The ones from the auto parts store don’t. The big ones like some above work well be they’re... big. I plan to find a Porsche one on eBay for the 930 road trips.
