39 years in a coma

IDT anyone ever loved me so much as to care for me 39 years. IMHO that's a caretaker nightmare but if you mean "for better or for worse" then so it goes. Wow.

Update your will too. My wife and I have had very frank discussions about what would happen in a case like this and we made sure it is clear in our wills. Also make sure you discuss it with whomever you’ve designated to make those decisions if your spouse is unable to.

There it is.

My Father was very firm in this in his Will (I was the Executor which pissed off my DA Sister) and, when he was dying, looked me right in the Hazels and told me I knew what he wanted.

It did not come to prevention of extraordinary measures, but it made me secure in HIS desires, which is the whole point.

My Will reflects the same: Let me go.

Same here. FB II is my executor and Flatbutt-ette is on board with everything.

I’m not gonna die.

Problem solved.

Like the guy who falls off of a roof and on the way down says" so far so good".

No sane person would prefer 38 years of coma, and then death. I have no idea how to change the laws, but there needs to be a point we pull the support plug and let nature take over.

When she expressed doubts about being able to see it through, I relayed the story of my cousin who committed suicide at 13yo. His parents had to make that same decision. If they can do it, so can she.
