Simon Schama did an eight-part series about 15 years ago that was pretty good, titled Power of Art. It’s probably still floating around out there somewhere.

I have these 3 from Victor Czerkas. He was a sign painter at Universal Studios back in the 1950's and studied art at Chouinard Art Institute.

Did you know him personally from work?

He was a nice guy, he actually gave me the second picture (boats in whitewashed frame) for making him some decent money on the rentals. Here's an example of one of his works for sale: https://windsorbetts.com/art/bowls-and-corn-by-victor-czerkas |
It's nice. He does oil and water color.

Let's see some pics of what's occupying space in your house. I've already shared my other stuff along the way... |

About half of the art was European, from the mid- to late-1700s through the early 1900s. I don’t have any pictures on my phone, but I took some quick screenshots off of a laptop, so the quality is going to suck but you’ll get the idea, maybe. Pieces like these…. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1643234951.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1643235062.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1643235083.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1643235116.jpg And I had works from American artists from the 1900s, including some contemporary artists that are still living: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1643235200.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1643235217.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1643235235.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1643235255.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1643235298.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1643235319.jpg |
A couple of those pictures are supposed to be vertical not horizontal, but iPhones absolutely suck when it comes to picture orientation. I could go back and fix them but it’s easier for you just to tilt your head to the left.

Hideous. (Just kidding). I'm impressed with the former size of your collection. Beautiful stuff. Not my genre, but impressive. Elaborate frames! What sort of stuff are you going to put in your new house?

After that, I may do a portrait of my grandfather in the style of Rembrandt circa 1660, or so, one of my youngest son in the style of a van Gogh self-portrait from 1889, one similar to John Singer Sargent’s Lady Agnew and a couple others. I expect to start sometime late spring. |
Wow. Any images of your work to share?
|
No, not really. Everything I’ve ever painted, apart from the first painting that I did as a kid, is in private hands. I still have that first painting that I did when I was 15 but even that is headed out the door, hopefully.

You should see what he got for Birth of Venus. :D
