Cruella: The Mouse goes dark

Or Emma(2) would work too. Starring Emma Stone (a "Favourite" of mine) and Emma Thompson, likewise, I had to see it. Fairly dark for a Disney movie. Soundtrack was great, script was decent as an origin story but I have no idea why this movie was made or who it was made for or if there will be more of them.

I saw it for Emma Stone and she was great in it, as was Thompson. Both well developed characters. Stone, excellent make-up, at times, some of her best acting. I had no idea it had a couture fashion theme which I loved and even wish it had a little more. So for me it was a really good movie. But I want to know who the target market is for a dark Disney movie. Might see it again. Going to rent The Favourite again.

My wife is taking our soon to be 12 year old granddaughter for her birthday. I'll be interested to hear what they think. We just watched the Glenn Close live action movie with her recently.

I've liked Emma Stone in what I've seen her in (and not only because she's cute).

This looks interesting. I'd seen the first trailer but not this one.

Jerry, I'm not sure this is an appropriate movie for a 12 year old. 14 I could see. That said I don't know any kids just feels like 12 is young. You may want to google around to see if anyone else feels this way.

My Granddaughters 7 and 13 watched it and liked it. We also watched "Mowgli" which is essentially The Jungle Book. But if you're expecting to dance around the room to "Bare Necessities" you will be disappointed. It was a pretty dark and scary movie for the 7 year old.

She skins puppies for coats. Not really interested in her origin story.

The Babylon bee announced Disney’s next movie, a sympathetic look at the queen alien from the Ridley Scott movies.

How long has Disney been making movies that were not appropriate for children?

I ask because it has been a long time since I paid attention to what they have been up to

It looks (aesthetically) fantastic... Probably shot on film.

Definitely interested.

No, the topic of the thread, as you can see in the trailer I posted, is the movie, Cruella. 101 Dalmatians is a different movie.

The seem to be branching out more and more.

1983 - Something Wicked This Way Comes - horror
2000s - The various Pirates of the Caribbean movies - are those kid friendly?
Are some of the Johnny Depp movies kids movies, Lone Ranger, Alice in Wonderland?
Some sci-fi movies, John Carter, Tron Legacy
The Maleficent movies

It seems like a bunch of the stuff is acceptible for older kids. Maybe Disney is looking to grab the teen money.

Different in that it's not a remake of 101 Dalmations?

IMDB says this about Cruella:

A live-action prequel feature film following a young Cruella de Vil.

Bob, it's an origin story. Definitely worth seeing whether in the theater (better for visuals and sound (soundtrack is great, and there's a lot of music in the movie) or at home.

I'm going to see it again.

No, the topic is cruella. She skins puppies, or wants to. A prequel explaining how she got to that point is of little interest. Maleficent was bad enough.

OK Karen, a Disney manager will be down in a minute with some free passes and a Mickey plush toy for you.
