Netflix is doing a nice job entertainming my ass. KATE

new movie.

KATE. pretty good. all the pretty colors of Japan displayed, action galore. woody Harrelson is in it.

plus some delightful young actor. plenty of blood guts, swords, guns, bombs..you name it.

couple glasses of Cab, and a bowl full of shrimp chips (Asian thing) and i was good to go.

the movie is called KATE

Watched it last night.

Pretty good shoot ‘em up movie.

The young girl almost stole the show.

I got to the part where she jumps in the car, watched about 10 seconds of that scene and shut it off. No thanks.

We watched it the other night and it was pretty good. I got as far as when she ditched all the bad guys with the niece before I had to go to bed.

Funny!. I watched it last night too.
I really enjoyed it and considered posting about it.

I lived in Japan when I was a kid, so I usually enjoy movies set there.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is attractive, and was excellent in the role. She was also in Gemini Man.

I was pleasantly surprised.

Glenn won't like it because a girl beats up a lot of guys.

That was one violent movie. Hard to believe they chose Mary Elizabeth for that role because I have ever seen her in any action stuff. But, holy hell! She did a fantastic job. Maybe she got some pointers from Bruce Willis,, or just learned by being in those Die Hard movies.

I thought the scene was pretty cool overall and I liked the overhead drone camera views. Surely CGI.

That was three beers in though. No beers, eight seconds.

She played some sort of agent that kicked butt in the Will Smith movie Gemini Man too.

part way through the movie.

She was Ramona in Scott Pilgrim, so yes, she's been the "perfect wierdo hot pixie girl" for a good long time now.

She also did some action stuff in Bird's of Prey, and she did some good political comedy in the unfortunately gone "Braindead" TV show. Which was so on point that it musta been destroyed by some politician or other...

I’d never heard of her before.

Five minutes into the movie and I’m hooked.

I almost didn’t watch it because that twaddlebrain from Cheers was in it.

She and Ewan McGregor have been together for a few years - and McGregor paid in a very painful way ($$$) post divorce for getting involved with Winstead. Half of all his film and TV royalties and $35,000 per month in spousal support to his ex among other things...

Well, at least we all know that Ewan doesn't have a type.

Should have stuck it out for another 20 seconds. After that the movie got started. Lots of action.

Just watched it, enjoyed it overall, but it's cliche.
I mean, Gunpowder Milkshake literally just came out, and was 90% the same story. This was more gritty, that was more fun.

This was also a retread of Replacement Killers, and shoulda put Chow Yun Fat and Mira Sorvino in the credits...also a retread of Leon...a bit of Atomic Blonde...

Most films are derivative versions of successful projects. Kate was fine.

Many films stretch the word "derivative" to excess when they try to capitalize on their lack of creativity. Let's look at sequels.

Objectives of the non-creative suits-in-charge: An expectation to latch onto hopeful fans primarily for box office proceeds. Predictably, many make money. Here's one list of 33 films:

https://www.imdb.com/list/ls004805428/

In a short time (tongue-in-cheek), all films will have a superhero lead. That platform provides an opportunity for voice-over talents to inject dramatic skill in the characters wearing a mask. Recall the success of the international TV series, Power Rangers (30 countries). But that's TV. I digress.
