Mercedes awesome TT V8's take a big hit

Wow, that's kind of crazy.

I really feel like now is the time to buy a Twin Turbo V12 Mercedes as a long term investment. Or any of the big power V8, V12 AMG cars.

MB is the inventor of cars. They had a stellar reputation as top quality for decades. Then when they bought Chrysler they had a management level decision to skimp on quality and maximize profits. The quality of MB dropped to that of French cars or Fiats, just garbage.
They are still struggling to regain any level of quality. My wife drove Mercedes for many years but her 1999 E320 was the last. She drove an Infinity G35x for several years and loved it except pitiful gas mileage. She loves the quality of her Macan. Mercedes is like Audi to me, a car I would have as a company car that I don't have to pay for or maintain. Mercedes had the first supercar the 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing. They have built many supercars since, but I guess they are done with that level of car. |
I'm torn between the "buy all the cool gas powered V8-10-12" while you can and "they will outlaw them and they will be worth nothing" theories.(if not outlawed, make it $$ or inconvenient in the name of clean air)

They'll become outdated and only wanted by a few, obscure geeks. I highly doubt these mass-produced cars will be worth anything in the future especially since by objective measurements EV's are superior. Once they figure out how to provide power to EV quickly and everywhere, it's over.
EV will wind up taking over since 99% of the motoring public just doesn't GAF about cars- except how reliable they are and whether or not it has wifi. rjp |
Supposedly some of the AMG V8s will return during the 2022 model year or for 2023. The market for G-Wagons went from $50K over MSRP to $100K over when the announcement came out. They're awesome engines making around 600hp.
The 450s make 362 hp/369 lb-ft of torque, but the mild hybrid electric motor adds up to 21hp/184 lb-ft of torque. Fast when you need it and much more economical. And smooth as glass with the new inline sixes. The AMG versions are obviously stronger. |
