MTB bike trail

Hardy Dam is an earth-filled embankment dam and powerplant complex on the Muskegon River in Big Prairie Township, Newaygo County, Michigan. At the time of its completion, it was the largest earthen dam in North America east of the Mississippi.

An agreement with Consumers Energy has led to a bike trail around the backwater of the dam. Shaped like a dragon...the trail is named the 'Dragon Trail'

48 miles long when completed...it's over a third done.
Numerous solid and suspension bridges when done....it's already drawing bikers from all over. It's only 15 minutes from my home. I'm anxious to ride the whole thing.

LOL- I swear I've seen this video (& I'm in Va.)
Either it was posted here, or I saw it on YT earlier this summer. I don't watch regular tv, instead, I will watch hours of videos like that, mtb'ing here/hiking there/sasquatch there type stuff.

Looks like it flows real nice. 48 miles of mtb is a lot of mtb trail. I love it b/c it will spread out all the users.

Have fun!

We have lots of those also...on the main pathways through the state.

This trail follows the water line which the 1930's dam made.
When they built the dam in the 30's...they flooded the town of Hardy after moving the residents out. The original buildings still stand...but under fifty feet of water.

Divers come to explore the remains of the city.

The fishing and boating is A+++

Sounds like a good excuse for a road trip with the Orbea!

Spectacular machines. 2017 Occam LTD Customized with Onyx sprague clutch hubs, 2020 Oiz LTD Race, 2021 Oiz 27.5 M10. Lifetime warranty on frames. Very light and agile.

Yes not cheap. I could buy a very nice SC or Carrera with what these cost.

Good eye Steve!

That is a Mrazek BOH (they are quite unique and odd; notice it has no tube from the seat post to the bottom bracket). Made in the Czech Republic by Bohumil Mrazek.

It has Gravel/Road tires. Not very popular I must add. Very grippy on the road and junk on gravel (regretfully). I use it for "commuting" type rides.

That's a nice trail, and one that looks like it would still be fun on my old Bridgestone. I grew up mountain biking from the late 80s when I was around 13, but I've been frozen in time in early 90s mountain biking since I bought my '93 Bridgestone MB-4 new. I never do it any more since I have to put it in the car and drive a long ways to do it, but I still enjoy old-school riding on old-school trails, even if I'm not as agreeable to NORBA-style Superman riding positions as I used to be.
