928 from risky business

The car that Tom Cruise drove in Risky Business just sold for 1.8 million at Barrett Jackson.

I think I'd rather have a McClaren Senna, a 991 GT-2 RS, and a Ferrari 812 Superfast.

But I'm sure the owner must be quite proud.

Who's the new U-Boat Commander?

kach22i 09-18-2021 02:04 PM

It can't outrun a bloated mid 1970's Caddy, why so much?

And the car was put in a fountain and dipped in the river.

I'm sure there are worse investments.

I think we forget what a big deal the 928 was in 1983... A true super car in its day.
(F40 - 1987, 959 - 1986)

And they certainly got my attention with a very young Rebecca De Mornay. :)

Did you know the original movie was rated "R"?

I bet Guido, the killer pimp bought it....."Time of your life, eh kid ?"

My 928 is now for sale. I'm offering it for a $1M, heck of a deal and $800k saving.

This the same car that sold at auction in 2012 for $49200. Crazy world of collector car auctions.

Some people have a lot of money and don't care what they spend it on. This is about someone trying to outspend the next guy.

It has to be.

It is a nothing special 928 that was underwater. Unlikely it was ever properly fixed. The ONLY value it has is that Tom Cruise drove it in a movie. Whoopie.

That same money would buy a really factory customized 911 GT2RS and have money left over to fly to Germany and stay of 5 star hotels and eat at the best restaurants and tour all of Europe.

Whatever, it is just someone else's money and they can do with it what they want.

crustychief 09-22-2021 05:57 AM

It doesn't even have the jump post cover, so it is basically junk

Steve Carlton 09-22-2021 06:11 AM

This one wasn't the underwater car, but still it seems to have sold for about $1.7M too much.

i figured it would go for alot.......I was thinking 300k

dad911 09-22-2021 06:22 PM

If I had money to burn, it wouldn't be on that car.
