Porsche Tootsie Toy and VW Bug
My wife and I were reorganizing a closet where I have lots of boxes of Hot Wheels and NASCAR stuff stored and I came across these two little gems. I remember they sat in a dining room hutch at my Grandmother's house for many years, I think she actually found them at a yard sale.
Anyhoo, for all you Porsche and VW guys. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Too big to fail

I've seen the bug, and I think I had one when I was a kid but I've never seen the 911

Great story. I have a few Tootsie toy cars in about the same condition.

That's a great little find! They're in good shape, too. Your lucky day!

I'm thinking about restoring the paint on them. I could paint them and also add some detail to them.
What do ya think, leave them the way they are or repaint? Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

They tell a story now. I'd probably clean them up as much as I could, apply nothing stronger than gibbs oil or wd40 with a soft cloth and just enjoy the patina.

Counterclockwise?

I'd go for a full on restoration!
Are all the windows broken? We used to shoot at them with our pellet guns and put firecrackers in them.

These Tootsie Toys didn't have plastic window inserts like Hot Wheels, they are just open.

^^^ As they say, "they're only original once".
I rubbed a little WD40 into the paint, exposed metal and the tires and buffed with a piece of a t-shirt. I then used a little marine polish and once dry, I buffed that as well. The final shine was a coat of clear floor polish to seal everything up nicely and to preserve the patina. So, that's it and now the little cars should be around a while longer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Those cleaned up nice. I think they look great, showing off the years and years of fun someone had with them....
