It would be interesting to see how this would work with different dog breeds. I speculate that Goldens have a great personality but may not be all that bright (the "dumb blonds" of the dog world) so other breeds, based on my and my family's experience would be:

Dachshund - Would chew up any of the items standing in its way, and few extras just to make a point...

Border Collie - Would try to rearrange the items, e.g. to better group the similar sizes and shapes...

Basset Hound - Would lie down on one side and look mournful as if to say "why are you doing this to me...aw, to heck with it..."

Great Dane - Would just step over, and look at you as if to say "Whaaat?"

Our beagle would have just plowed through since he would not have cared the least if there was something in his way. Our last lab would have plowed through because she was pretty much blind. Our first lab would have stopped and looked at us like "Are you sure" and then walked through.

Goldens are pretty smart dogs for the most part. Maybe they care too much.
