Feedback on Liqui Moly?

A good friend of mine who recently bought an E46 M3 mentioned that the previous owner religiously used Liqui Moly.

Curious as I am, did quite a bit of reading and so far seems like decent stuff.

What's your take on the stuff? Do you guys use it?

I have been using it in my 335d since I purchased it, and have had no issues.

I had a Blackstone analysis done a at the last oil change and they suggested not running the oil
13k miles.

It's all I put in the Cayenne, just ordered a change kit for the winter.

Yep, the only oil that goes in my Cayenne. I am a big believer...

Have used it in my Audis forever. It's good oil and lasts a long time. No sludging and handles heat well.

High quality oil but it’s important to use the product with the correct spec, (numbers on bottle), if your vehicle has one. Most modern European vehicles do and your engine warranty can be denied if you cannot prove that it has always been used and failure occurs.

I do most of my own oil changes and always keep my invoices plus take photos of the oil bottles which are date stamped on phone.

I've used it in my TDI Sportwagon. I'm not an oil purist, I just use whatever spec the manufactures calls out.

I bought my TDI with 24k miles on the clock and it has 260k+ now. I've used Castrol Top Tech, Mobil 1, the dealer brand, Liqui Moly, all with the VW 504/507 spec.

The car still gets 44 mpg, even after VW's diesel gate "fix"

I have a Tdi JSW as well. I'm not getting 40+mpg, other than on long trips on the highway. I use this oil:

I must have gotten the castrol and liqui moly mixed up

I remember getting Mobil 1 at Pepboys, Liqui Moly at NAPA and Castrol at the dealer. The dealer then switched to their own VW/AUDI oil

I'm not getting 44 in town but on the freeway. Turn on the cruise control and set it for 65 and 44 mpg is normal.

I started changing the oil at 5000 miles instead of the 10000 since my car is hi miles.

do you have a stick or manual tranny? I have the 6 speed and I kept the original oil for 200k miles. There is no factory service interval for the transmission oil so i ignored it and kept driving. Finally I decided I had to do something at 200k and changed the oil with Redline MTL. The MTL didn't shift as smooth so I switched back to the VW oil after 30k with the Redline. The 200k original oil was a little dark and burnt but it was still felt like oil should feel and now I will change the oil at the max of 100k.

I was doing a lot of commuting in LA at the time. Don't really miss it.

I do have a 6MT and have never touched the trans oil @ 114k miles. Coming up on the major timing belt service now.

You're probably due for the oil change. Its easy. The drain and fill plugs are easy to find after you lift the car. I think i just filled it to the threads of the fill hole. Maybe you should measure how much comes out or feel the level thru the fill hole with your finger.

Be sure that you can unscrew the fill plug before draining the transmission!!

I can't remember where I saw it, but there is a service interval on Porsche 6-speed manual transmissions. I switched to Mobile 1 Mobilube PTX 75W 90 at 50K miles. They say it shifts better, but I didn't notice any difference. But having a Driveline filler system makes it so easy to fill the transmission, I'd say it was fun even. Didn't spill a drop of oil.
