Tesla Safety Score
I have a friend that has a Tesla and follows all the updates and Elon comments/etc.
He wants to get the new self driving software (FSD 10.1) but first he needs to drive for a bit and get a Tesla Safety Score. Here is what is scored: 1 - hard braking - above 0.3g 2 - hard cornering - not sure about the g level 3 - how many times forward collision warning is activated 4 - tailgating 5 - how often AutoPilot disengages Interesting that driving e.g. 45mph in a 25mph zone is not a part of the score. My buddy has been driving very careful but has been getting dinged and his score is down a bit from 100%. As your score goes down you are put further down the list to get the software update. If your score goes down too much then you don't get the update at all - is my understanding. Maybe this is a Tesla strategy to reduce the Tesla crash rate even lower. I understand the crash rate is already the lowest. Tesla can then push more and more automated driving features while reducing pushback from regulation. Any additional thoughts?

Big brother.
You gave me another reason not to buy a Tesla... What is next? Report to police departments and get tickets mailed to your house? |

Previous Tesla FSDs were a joke, not nearly what was touted, and not worth $10, let alone $10,000. I believe you can subscribe now, which gives an out. They want safe drivers testing it, vs clowns in the back seat.

I see a score like this as getting drivers to pay attention and reduce peak G.
Peak G is often from not paying attention. Although some times it is also from fun. Seems to me if an app results in drivers paying more attention than that is a plus. With a system like this, I'd want an "other" car for moments when I'm hitting high peak G's with intent. One other sorting it does is not just driver, but also traffic areas. Would be sad if someone tried to brake lightly to not trip the score and went kablammy. Oops. |

This is something you have to request. They’re trying to weed-out the bad drivers from the FSD beta program. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

This is behavior mod 101. Do as we want and get your reward.
Some insurance companies do it too. I would fail miserably ![]() Best Les

What will truly get weeded out is times and locations. Those who must face the worst of traffic, even if they have good driving skill, will be weeded out by virtue of the traffic causing increased demands. It will weed out some bad drivers, but more so those who have to drive in harder traffic whether they are good or bad. |

i was staring (rudely) at something beautiful while driving our T. ironically, it was a jet black Taycan. traffic stopped suddenly. i dont know if i was my ninja-like reflexes, but i got on the brakes and stopped with ZERO fanfare. i cannot tell if the Tesla took control. (or if Jesus took the wheel). all i was left with was a tiny sheen of cold sweat and stinkeye from the wife.
