Would you put these tires on your Porsche

Cooper Zeon 255/40/17

Would you put them on in a pinch, rear, not a racecar

I wouldn’t have tires on the front axle that didn’t match the tires on the rear axle. So if you’re buying them just for the rear axle, then no.

As for whether I would buy them at all, that depends on how you drive the car. I personally always used tires from the higher end of they offerings in the market, but that’s just me.

The tires (rear) are worn out, the fronts are like new they are Dunlops all around and I agree with you all four have to be same same.

So I'm getting all four, like you I want good tires in performance and looks but
getting harder to find. I can get these coopers locally for a LOW LOW price they seem to get goods reviews BUT I want to check with the people who know whats what when it comes to Porsches, PELICANS ya'll.

Have you looked on websites like tirerack.com to see if they’ve had any tests of those tires, or any useful reviews? I know nothing about them.

I'm just about to check " 1010tire" But I'm also hoping for some thumbs up or down from this forum. BTW I've had Coopers on my hot rod for years and can not
wear them out. 5 Years and they look like new.

Cooper make great tires. I ran them on a work provided SUV for many years.

Not sure about a Porsche.

20 years ago they had serious quality problems. In the last few years they started some OE supply which should have helped their quality issues. I believe they have 3 US plants. Texarkana (their largest), Findley Ohio, and Tupelo.

Goodyear bought them earlier this year.

I know nothing about the specific tire.

Usually tread life and traction are inversely related. Not sure long tread life is what you want on a Porsche that doesn’t see very many miles on an annual basis. Me, I always wanted the stickiest tire I could get on most of mine. Mine got replaced based on age more often than from tire wear.

If they have a treadwear/traction rating of let's say 250-280 I would have no problem using them . Cooper has been around a long time and as previously stated we're bought out by Goodyear earlier this year . Does your local tire shop have any feedback on them ?

That kind of surprises me about the noise. I would have said they were quiet but I guess having those open grooves on the shoulders creates noise. I liked quiet tires on my Porsche. Helped on longer trips as the fatigue factor is lower with less noise.

If the tires are similar, I’d say go for it. The car does it know what tires are installed, so you can drive to the car/tire characteristics. I’ve done this multiple times on the track.

I run the G Force Sport Comp II's on my car. I'm going to switch to Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06. I don't like the handling of the G Force on wet roads. I don't drive in rain often but I've been caught in some downpours and it wasn't comfortable.

Like other have mentioned here, I've used coopers before...on my 1/2 ton Dodge pickup that I often overloaded. Never a tire problem.

No idea how their higher performance car tires perform...

Good choice. I'm running these on my Mustang and quite happy with them. Yes, it does rain some here in Oregon's Willamette Valley.

I recently inquired about lower cost tires suitable for a 911 from a very knowledgeable and up to date source. In the old days, we used Yokohama ES 100s(?) for street duty and occasional track days, Michelins or Pirellis get expensive in a hurry when you are burning through them fast.

The answer was a Firestone tire that is actually a Bridgestone, apparently they have merged. Can’t remember the model but it’s fantastic and very affordable…this coming from one of the best Porsche pilots around.

I'd check with Caster on this.

I haven't run the RS3s, but we've had Coopers on the last two daily drivers for the wife. The current one has CS5s, they have lots of grip for a street tire, but the trade off is they're wearing quick. She has less than 30,000 on them and I think we're going to replace them before winter. The fronts have less than 4/32 left. I probably should have rotated them more. The previous car had CS3s, had it 5 or 6 years, still had 7/32 when we sold it.

I had some low profile Continental DWS tires on the old Jetta, kept getting sidewall bulges. Probably due to the terrible roads around here. I replaced two or three of them in the time I had it (4 years).
