Digital rectangular oil pressure and temp gauges- Help !
So I have a 2002 Boxster S with the worthless in dash console drink holders . I never use them I have floor level holders . So I would like to add a digital oil pressure and temperature gauges and want them to fit in/on the face of the cupholders . So that means I need to find gauges that are maybe 1" high and 2.5" wide , depth is not an issue there is lots of room .
I have looked on auto sites , aircraft sites , motorcycle sites , fleabay etc. and am not finding much . If I find one I can't find the matching other . You guys have any ideas where I can find both ? I really thought this would be easy to find . |
At least you've got a dipstick or the possibility to retrofit one.
Can't you add a 996 gauge cluster? I know that is possible with some 986 cars. My '08 3.4L, I can't retrofit a dipstick (some of the earlier cars you buy the parts and install and you're good to go). And from what I have been able to find, it's also not possible to get real oil pressure on my car, at least, not easily. If this applied to my car... https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Boxster_Tech/90-ELEC-996_Cluster/90-ELEC-996_Cluster.htm |
Yes I could go with a 996 gauge pod but that's not what I want . My cupholders are in the top console slot so perfect height/viewing angle . I do have a dipstick but over the years comparing it to the dash gauge my dash gauge is spot on so I rarely use the dipstick .

Closest I can think of is Dakota Digital; you might have to talk to them about something custom:

I had looked at Dakota Digital but not the other so thanks for the links . I am really surprised this is so difficult . I would have thought the limited dash space on motorcycles/atv's/boats etc these would be more prevalent . May have to do plan B .

A lot of muscle cars had odd shaped gauges like that, does Autometer do custom gauges?
|
I have an email into Intellitronics thanks for that link. Dansvan that website looks promising I will get in touch with them . Thanks guys

You might also get in touch with Bob Ashlock at Ashlocktech. He makes the Tac-Adapt thing. He's also made himself custom gauges too. His wife recently got a Boxster so he might have an interest in coming up with something.
Don't tell him I sent you as he's really busy rebuilding CD boxes. |
Speedhut does custom stuff but everything I see is round. They might sell you the digital part on its own though.
