I think you should chop it down and send it to someone for the PPOT Christmas gift exchange.

Via Fed-Ex. :D

Hell... get Seahawk's name. It's not even 3' in diameter... he's got a generator and 4 batteries to work that sucker up into firewood.

That's a toy tree ;)

Wait a minute!
Any deals...include stump grinding. Does he have a battery powered stump grinder?

I think it's an attachment for a 58V log splitter :D

stevej37 10-13-2021 04:28 PM

^^^ That should do it.

Wrapped it around..took it off and measured.

I believe you but if you're gonna shake a tree 9ft in circumference...;)

Also, will you take any trades for those walnuts?

Send them over.

If you didn't have many years in one pile, I am sure you could get someone to come get them since you piled them up. They will keep a long time unshelled under good conditions.

Wish I was closer. I made my bathroom counters out of large slabs of Black walnut. They turned out beautiful. A tree that size could produce many board feet of some nice wood. Slicing it up make a differeance. Where a large limb comes into the trunk, if cut in the right manner, make for some beautiful patterns.

Gotcha...I thought you meant I was exaggerating!

In my original post, I put dia. instead of circum.
Went back and fixed it. A 9ft dia tree would be big for MI

I've turned over a few shovels of them before. They are a slimy black mess under a few inches down. That hull, or meat, doesn't dry up. Plus the leaves mixed in keep the air from helping.

Yep, crotches make for nice wood. (no pun intended, no really)

Asked my wife about taking the tree down, got the stink eye from her. Stays awhile longer I guess. At 75, I’m tired of raking and shoveling the little bastard nuts up.

Ha! The worst part of raking them up is when the grass grows too much before getting a chance to do it.
After I rake them up, I lower the JD to about 2 inches to mow it. Makes the next raking a lot easier. It's almost like raking on a golf green.

Put a sign up that says "Please don't steal the walnuts."

They should be gone by the morning.

stevej37 10-14-2021 10:25 AM

^^^ Trouble is...we have zero theft in my area...good Dutch neighbors!
Maybe a buy one get the rest free might work.
