I think it has to be easy, but I cannot name it.

HobieMarty 10-11-2021 08:35 PM

Whatever it is, looks like it has TR6 taillights.

Look at the fit and finish. It must be Brit, or Italian.

Heel n Toe 10-11-2021 09:50 PM

With no badging, it has the feel of a kit car.

Steve Carlton 10-11-2021 09:52 PM

It's a Tiberius 290. They only made 7 of them.

blucille 10-12-2021 02:15 AM

Looks like a tvr. 3000S maybe?

WPOZZZ 10-12-2021 02:56 AM

yup.

ckelly78z 10-12-2021 03:13 AM

With the visible panel gaps, and rear bumper grime, I would name this car a "Hot Mess" !

ErVikingo 10-12-2021 06:50 AM

Tvr 3000

pavulon 10-12-2021 07:55 AM

All the TIB290's ran really rich but the '07's were the worst.

Steve Carlton 10-12-2021 08:03 AM

I'm hoping Tiberius wins their lawsuit against TVR, personally. I drive #6 and Raul Julia said it best-

It has a hooded punk driving it, so what ever it is, its probably stolen..

herr_oberst 10-12-2021 12:36 PM

"Doris"

Or a Tesla.

Here is the only Tiberius290 in coupe form. Of the seven originals, OP's roadster and this coupe are all that remain. Termites took the others.

Well, I had the taillights anyway. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f61b7fe776.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...198e36cb4e.jpg

So all you need is a sacrificial TR-6 and the kit to make one. :)

HobieMarty 10-12-2021 01:32 PM

I'd rather have the TR.

I have a 69 and 75 TR6. If I recall correctly the 69 gas cap closed with a magnet. That wouldn’t help much, in a rollover/crash.

I think the 75 had a latch.

HobieMarty 10-12-2021 10:49 PM

I had 1976 and 1973 TR6s, the 73 was a parts car and the gas cap was chrome and had a latch/hook type of mechanism that held it closed. The 76 had the very same gas cap latch mechanism but the gas cap was a brushed aluminum. I liked the chrome one better so I switched them out.

I think we have a winner with the TVR 3000. Thank you.

I didn't pay much attention to the location of the OP's photo at the time, but I now recognize it as the corner of Murray St. and Seabright Ave., with Betty's Burgers over on the left. This is the only TVR that I've ever seen out in the wild.

No chance for more pics...he was just leaving as I pulled in the lot.

TVRs used a lot of "parts bin" stuff -- as do all small volume car manufacturers.

Steve Viegas 10-17-2021 06:22 PM

Color me impressed. You are right on the money.

What's impressive about TVR as a small-volume manufacturer was that they were the only one to (much later) design and manufacture their own engines.
