I think I had a mini stroke today....
I went into the shop today and on arrival one side of my face and my tongue went numb. So much so that I could not form words or speak. I didn't feel dizzy but certainly out of sorts. I went to my work bench to work on some checkering and could not get coordinated enough to do it. I have had incidents of late where it lose vision in my one eye for a few minutes, and have had some passing sharp pains in the back of my neck. I went on the web and it seems I have all the classic signs of a mini stroke. I feel fine now, but I told my wife and of course she's freaking out and telling me I need to go to emergency. Now it's the night before Thanksgiving and my band is opening for Tommy Castro on friday. I told her that I will contact my doctor on monday and that I have too many things to get out of the way before I can do this. Anybody else with stroke experiences here? Docs? What say ye. Will I live until monday? This is the second time this has happened in a couple of months.

Not a Doc, but I say you listen to your wife and go get yourself looked at. You do know time is critical in a stroke, and being stubborn could make nothing to be thankful for tomorrow.
NOW GIT!!!

Go to the ER immediately.
My father had a similar experience. Had he not gone to the ER he'd have died from a massive aneurism. That was 17 years ago and he's still going strong as it was caught in time. Go. Do it. No ****ing excuses - GO!

Get your ass to the ER about 2hrs ago!
Seriously, you may have 2wks, but you might not have the rest of the night. Not something you want to risk. |

David,
I'm hoping you have already left for the ER. If you're not going to listen to your wife, for the love of God listen to the Pelican 'Brain Trust". Get yourself to medical attention. NOW. Let us know how it turns out. Best Les

Dude, don't sweat it. I died and was brought back when I was young, it was actually kind of a cool experience.
Seriously though ........ |

I loathe the ER more than is reasonable. If what happened to you happened to me, I'd be there in a flash.
Please go.

Well, I guess that's better than nothing. Here's hoping that you're doing great and it's something like indigestion or gas!

Fuch Tommy Castro and go right now to the ER. You really have about 4 hours before you have damage that can't be reverse. I had one about 2 1/2 years when I was 42. Everything checked out fine and they found nothing wrong with me. Take an aspirin now, get off the computer and go. I had very little classic sign of a stroke and the er doc gave me sea sickness pills. They found out the next day after my sister fought them on the MRI (suggestion from her hospital). Fight them and get them to give you an MRI. Keep at it if they say no. Now get over there, keep us inform. Good luck. Tell you my story when you get back.

It's the 2nd one that will bring the house down. I see the green light that you're online but I hope you just left your computer on this page and took off for the hospital. It's no big deal IF you get to the ER.
