I bought a Cayenne!
2013 diesel with 153K miles, for $20K. I wanted the good mileage of the diesel. I love it.

It's lovely in white... Good luck and all that!

I have chatted with a few PCA members at various events that own the diesel , they all say it's a great engine and performs well . Good luck with yours it's a good looking vehicle .

Please update us with your experiences.

Congrats.... We love our 2008 and 2013 base models.
|
Congratulations, looks like a beautiful truck! I'm closing in on 10K miles on my '10 and still love it.

Serious question: in what ways does a Cayenne say Porsche?
|
I was looking for a Cayenne a few years ago but ended up with a 2011 VW Touareg TDI.
I've had it a little over 2 years now (has 132K on it now). Love the car but have had issues with the EGR which was luckily covered under the dieselgate extended warranty. Any warranty left on it? I've been getting around 26-27 MPG with it. Thought it might do a little better than that but haven't taken it on an extended trip as yet. Good luck with it. |
They go thru brake pads like water....did you at least get a trailer hitch?

Although, the Cayenne could probably equal or exceed a lot of our older 911's in many respects. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1634305736.jpg |

The build quality on her Macan is amazing. It's a 2015, has 70k+ in miles and looks new inside and out. It handles like a well set up sports sedan. It is fast and in sport or sport plus the engine and trans are super responsive. Has an amazing growl to the exhaust. The ergonomics and design are driver focused. It's not the most practical vehicle in it's class by far. The back seat is small, storage is so so. My buddy dailys a 2009 Cayenne GTS. He would say some similar things although the Cayenne has better storage and rear seating. It gives up some sportiness to the Macan. He's a contractor so it works great for him. OP, nice Cayenne, congrats! The diesel intrigues me and they seem pretty rare. I hope it works well for you long term! |
How does the diesel perform?
|
You might look into replacing the high pressure fuel pump.
|
I think these are great cars. A buddy has one.
However, I would not own one because of this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPFPf2EpxkE |

If you're saying 'Porsche is sports car company that has lost their way', that's very different from 'why would you buy an SUV from Porsche?'. |

No trailer hitch, but I don't plan on using one. The performance is pretty good. A gas model might be quicker, but I didn't buy it for that. I haven't tried sport mode yet. That might make a difference. I'm going to be building a cabin in the high Sierra, at 7000 feet, near Bear Valley ski resort, so I'll need a better way to get back and forth than the Tristar.
What's the deal with the high pressure fuel pump? |
You have a very cool set of cars!

I loved my 2011 Cayenne (which I sold recently). This will be great.

This is about right for my 2004 (lose the back seat and spare and you are well under 5.0 s for 0-60)....and they are a lot faster now: ROAD AND TRACK November, 2003 Cayenne Turbo 0-60: 5.0 s 0-100: 12.6 s 1/4: 13.4 @ 103.1 MPH Top: 165 MPH Brake 60 mph: 121 ft Brake 80 mph: 215 ft Slalom: 61.6 MPH Skidpad: .83 G Mine will outrun most cars towing my Trailex aluminum trailer with my old 911 on it (can't even tell it is there without looking). |
Wow that's impressive fuel mileage for an all wheel drive SUV that large/heavy . I didn't realize they could return that MPG. The gas engine is a thirsty beast .
|
Will you be 4wheeling with the Cayenne? I wonder how it stacks up against 4Runners and Land Cruisers.

Hey let us know how it does in the snow. Are you putting on AT or MT tires? The Cayennes I’ve seen only sport aggressive highway tires.

Responses appreciated. Good to see that Porsche DNA lives in the SUVs.

I bought a 2013 Cayenne Diesel for our family mobile/wife's car. The cayenne is incredible honestly. I bought mine with 80k miles, were almost at 100k with zero issues. I've done the oil changes and services on it. I was not a huge fan of the suspension when hitting certain type bumps on the freeway and such. I felt that it just rebounded too hard sometimes. Wished I could change the dampening or make some type of adjustment...I installed a porsche tow package in a hour yesterday. Very easy job in the garage. I recently bought a vintage 911 race car that I'll be towing. Although I have a truck that can tow, this is the better family car and will be great for road trips. I really wanted the tow hitch for mountain bikes too. I can tell you the ride is significantly better the added weight of a tow hitch. It seems they designed the vehicle with a tow hitch in mind, so without one..the spring rate is not right IMO. Anyway..congrats and cool ride man! I think you'll love it. Its the most comfortable vehicle I've owned and gets great mileage for an SUV

Because of my somewhat eclectic collection of old cars, I always get comments and questions in parking lots and such. I thought the "boring" SUV wouldn't get any attention but it gets more comments than the '50 split of Tristar. I guess people pay a lot of attention to new cars. Who knew?
