Why's everyone so uppity??

WTF is happening to this place?? Seems like almost every thread, no matter how innocent, gets turned into some kind of pissing match lately. And not just over in the PARF cesspool. Here in regular OT as well.

So many of us always on the defensive no matter what the subject is. This place used to be so much fun. Has always been a bunch of really great dudes on here. Still is, but don't know whats happened. S#!t is just getting too nasty and personal. Also seems a bunch of the prolific old regulars are trickling off too.. Granted I'm not on here like I used to be.( I'm not near a computer as much anymore.)

Just an observation...

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!? Who are you calling a poopy head you poopy head?!?

I don’t want to talk to you no more, you empty-headed animal-food-trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries.

No moderators to police the area.

Coincidentally, it's occurring at the same time the entire world is in a state of turmoil.

I was just thinking about you the other day Vinnie. I saw a '64 Fairlane 2dr hardtop (roller) for sale and I thought about your drag car.

How dare you, I’m offended.

Probably too many folks confusing the difference between being right and getting it right.

I really like my life now that I try to master the latter.

And I need to recognize Joe Rogan for much of that. Began listening to his podcasts a LOT about 5-6 years ago. Such a healthy and smart approach to differing opinions/topics.

Too many folks cannot behave themselves without a moderator constantly enforcing the rules...much like children in an unmonitored playground. Every thread is an opportunity to malign someone for a perceived past sin. A real pity. Adult conversation seems to have lost its appeal for many...as it is intolerable for others...thousands of miles away...to have a differing opinion on anything. We used to celebrate differences and listen to other's positions. Now many are more concerned with silencing others with views that do not parallel theirs vice "expressing" their own.

We don't need monitors, we need people to act like adults who believe in freedom of expression and can interact with others without a tirade of expletives or personal attacks.

Let’s talk about our shoe collection !

Or toy boats !

If you’re referring to that preobit thread, hardly surprising the loss of a long time PARF player has spillover effects in the PPOT safe zone. Some grief, lashing out is understandable. I’m not going to read anymore into it.

Now that bicyclist vs teen saga is another story altogether. Pass the popcorn.

Well.
Back in 2019 a post I wrote about how to enjoy life in an internet age got deleted.
I don't feel like re-writing it.

I have never felt insulted in my entire time on this forum.
Because I choose how I feel.
People who get upset and follow their feelings won't find happyness.

There are bumps.
Yer tire pressure and suspension settings determine how the bumps effect you as you drive over them.
There is also a measure that the way one treats others gets reflected back to oneself.
Whether one has good or bad interactions is largely dependent on one's own approach.

Well said.
Please feel free to have moments when you pity the lives of some posters.
I think it's also fair to say that some aren't nearly as funny as they think themselves to be.

Best

Everyone knows who the instigators are. Ban them or make a Herculean effort to ignore them and I guarantee the atmosphere will change.

And yes,,the moderation here is piss poor to nonexistent.

It may seem like that but the mods have had a hands off approach for sometime.

If someone breaks the rules and it's reported to them they will act.

A few years ago we had two very active Mods (nostatic & Z-man) who intervened and gave away free holidays to ban island when needed.

- More recently Z Man has reappeared and has been active in PARF.
I don't know what happened to "nostatic" and we haven't seen him here for years.
"DanielDudley" is still listed as a mod but he hasn't posted for some time.

100% correct.

I try to not add to these type of threads because I like PARF and I am probably viewed by some on this side as part of the problem.

But I never post PARF related stuff here, or at least I try not to and will remove and apologize if I made that mistake.

To the quote above, I do not have anyone on "Ignore" but I rarely if ever "Reply" to specific individuals in PARF. If I do then it is a one and done affair: I have learned not to follow folks down their rabbit hole...I have in the past and that is an exhausting exercise.

Thanks, Vinnie.

I am not sure of the number of imposter posters we have but I think they selfishly cause trouble for sport.

That's probably my biggest gripe. The rule on this are clear and yet "some people" think it doesn't apply to them.

Anyone who has been on here for two decades has watched the discussion of politics (and the subsequent fall out) destroy it imo. Many left before the creation of PARF ... the rest of us will leave afterwards.

DD was doing a fine job at moderating this place imo but... he vacated back in March.

The answer seems obvious to me once again... a good ol' fashioned hiatus.

Be well my PPOT friends ... there are none better online... warts and all
