Filmed at Lions Drag Strip. My Dad was the operations manager of Lions and I went with him the day they shot this.

I was at Lions the time Don Garlits blew half of his foot off. That was pretty much the end of front engine dragsters.

Very cool - but as I understand it there were several built, but only the original one for the show.

I used to watch the Addams Family. It seemed like the Beatles or the Rolling Stones to me.

^^^ Yeah, the Addams Family was more of an adult tv show than the Munsters.
I think they were both running at about the same time?

I just looked it up. They both ran for two seasons from 1964-1966. 68 episodes of the Addams Family and 70 episodes of the Munsters. The Munsters had higher ratings, but succumbed to Batman.

Yes. Yes, she was. Lurch (Ted Cassidy) provided the hand that was Thing, unless he was in the scene.

Both shows were cool in their own way.

Liked the Munster cars though.

Munsters --> Monsters acting like people
Addams Family --> People acting like monsters.

It looked like the bubble top was filling up with cigar smoke - or was that just condensation from Grampas breath?

4 were built one was used ONCE in the series.....more a advertisement display prop for the show than anything. This wasn't the one used in the show. It will probably be used as a dust catcher in someone's collection as opposed to being driven. You WILL be a baked potato under that dome real quick.

I loved all of that. I grew up on this sort of TV and Walt Disney comics. Thank goodness New Zealand hadn't started producing it's own TV shows by then.

The shows I grew up with...

The Munsters
The Adams family
Gilligan's Island
Batman
Later: "Happy Days"
I couldn't stand "The Brady Bunch" but my sister watched it and we only had one TV in the house.

Weekends: Elvis, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis movies and World Championship Wrestling.
