How many of you ride a bike?

BAZ's pedal thread got me thinking. I know there are few of us here are bike nuts, but there are many who are bike riders I don't know about, including Baz. Road, mtb, whatever, but who ride regularly? I am not talking about those who ride to the coffee shop once every two months.

I do it between one to three times a week depending on my schedule. Did 50 very hard miles with a bunch of guys on Saturday and went out with my kid for another 40 and climbed 2500 feet. Went home but couldn't stay awake I was so tired. More then likely I will go out again this Wed.

So…. Was cycling 6 times per week, between 450-500km until mid August. On crutches since with some nice hip mounted hardware. Hoping to be back on turbo mid November.

300 miles a week is a good amount. I use to put in about 350-400 per week when I was racing, and that took all my time. Good for you for doing it. Living the dream.

I plan to get back on my road bike sometime soon. Ten years or so off the bike made me me lose the callouses on my sit bones. I have to work up the stamina on my butt again. I don’t know if I can even handle 10 miles on the saddle yet. I do ride my ebike, which is legit exercise since it weighs 70 lb. However, I have a big fat cushy seat on it.

I ride a bike most days.

- About once or twice a fortnight I'll do a six hour round trip but an hour and half is more typical.

I still use glued on "Sewups" and I rarely get a flat.

We call em' tubulars too growing up. Forget that mess now, its all clinchers now that I am no longer racing. they sure feel good though. I still have my old GP4 training wheels but the tubs are 20 years old.

Garage
I used to ride almost everyday, but I have a dog now that requires extra time, so I walk about 3 miles a day with him and only ride one day a week between 30-60 miles.

Here's a challenge for you. Get some new Tubulars and glue them onto your GP4 wheels.
You maybe be surprised at how good they feel.

The thing about Tubs: No other tyre setup is as light at the rims.
BTW: I still use glue but you can now use double sided tape to mount them.

Australian Built Carbon Road Wheels.

I ride every day...until the cold weather sets in. Then one of the bikes comes inside for use on the rollers.
The older I get...the less I like biking with layers of clothes in the cold.

Similar here. In spring and summer I try to ride as often as possible. Walking is difficult for me and jogging is impossible due to nerve damage but I am able to pedal a bike. The most I can do in a day is 25-30 miles and if HOT then 15 -20.

My wife and I have a couple of Electra cruiser style bikes. They look very 1950's but very light weight with a lot of aluminum components. There's a park nearby with a lake so we'll go over there. Also at the beach when we go on vacation. We don't cycle every week, but really enjoy when we do...

I was a pretty enthusiastic Mountainbike rider and did some road riding as alternative transport.

Then I bought a Dirtbike.

I may have de-evolved.

I try to ride every day about 16 miles averaging 16 MPH. Being retired I can wait till everyone has gone to work and the school zones have lifted so there is not much traffic. I stick to 4 lane boulevards and a park road so don't have to fight with traffic.

I was a mountain bike nut for a 10 year period . Probably rode 3 days a week, and would do long technical rides on the weekend.
I would ride BMX bike during week days to train.
When I did the MS 150, I went with a bunch of regular road riders . The one guy was making some comments about me taking a smoke break at our first rest stop. I passed him, and the rest of them shortly after that, and was way , way ahead of them at the end of the day both days .
I miss being in good shape like that
I almost did the MS on a BMX bike. I was trying to talk my other riding buddy into doing it with me, but he backed out

Rode and raced Mountain Bikes until my mid forties. I made the mistake of switching to downhill because I liked the training better. Less cardio and more strength. Unfortunately this style of riding brought more injuries. Now I just ride sparingly due to a terrible knee. I do miss it though.
