start the clock over, i fell off the wagon.

i have been doing so well. then i visited a place i shouldn't. i couldn't help myself. just went in to say "HI". the sounds and smells; a Siren's song.

it happened. i bought another freakin KNIFE!! i did get a smoking good deal on what i consider as arguably one of the best out there.

A Carothers FK2 (field knife version 2). it's shocking how many people buy knives and just fondle them with soft cotton gloves. this one was slightly used, but i'll really really use it.

(my apologies for those with real addictions, i meant ZERO disrespect and want nothing but the best for you :))

the knife. truly, the last one i needed to buy.

Addictions are addictions, be it drugs or knives or horsepower.

truth. but honestly, i might only have 6 knives now (non kitchen blades). i'm over them for the most part.

i was just making humor attempt.

Until the next one comes along! :)

I think everyone here knows you well enough to know where you are coming from.

I'm usually over stuff like that too, until I'm not. I walk into a sporting goods place and those damn shiny knives are just sitting there calling to me! Niiiiiiiick... look over heeeeere. People look at me funny because I'm standing there with my eyes closed and hands over ears saying "I can't hear you!!"

It's like trail cameras. My friend and I now have 14 trail cellular enabled trail cameras in my woods that is about 40 acres. But I just KNOW if I had one more I could figure out where those deer are travelling.

Nice! It's only a problem if you aren't going to use it and just bought it because....

Mahler9th 10-21-2021 09:26 AM

Nice.

All the fishing, et cetera talk made me dust off my old Mitchell 300 and 300A machines. Bought circa 1972. Not used since 19... I cannot remember.

On to Lake Chabot!

Old School Mitchell 300? You've got fishing GOLD.

My dad grew up in Memphis.

We started with bamboo poles.

Then I saw something called a Zebco 202 in a package with a rod at the Super America gas station. I was about 8.

I worked hard on Dad to get me one. Really hard. It was a financial stretch.

But I got one.

Then we all went fishing. I had the Zebco 202, and they all had bamboo poles.

Soon we all had Zebco 202's.

Then I saw something called a Mitchell 300.

By then I was working part time in high school.

I bought one.

Mahler9th 10-21-2021 09:45 AM

Ties this 'round....

I saw them using Zebco 202's at an IMSA event. SmartRacing Products Smartstrings.... the Lizards used them for the fishing line.

My friend Craig was on the technical team for FLM and invented and commercialized Smartstrings.

I want to buy some 202's for my set up fishing line, but I am not likely to do it.

Instead I hope to see some the children of some friends start with their Zebco 202's.

And appropriate knives when they are of age.

You never know when stuff might start growing in the yard again!

Personal items, I call 'em...those things a guy carries and uses often...Pens, knives, etc..

Sometimes you need to buy and try quite a few of them before you settle on "the" one..

(Edit) Never considered myself a knife collector, but I have a box full of maybe 25 various pocket knives, perhaps 7 or 8 hunting knives, collected before I landed on the ones I used most. Oh, and then there is that old Gerber "trout knife"...a beautiful little design for cleaning trout..I have 2 of those..bought one for my dad, got it back after he died.

On the plus side, I haven't bought a knife for decades now.

Or .25 acp mouse guns.

I'm looking at another right now. The original James Bond pistol that M takes away from him in Dr No. "That damn Beretta".

Just go to where none of the 14 current camera are; you'll find 'em.

What is the point of owning a knife?
Do you cook a lot of asparagus ?

911boost 10-21-2021 07:17 PM

Looks nice Vash, I know you will use it.

To cut/slice things.
As a related note, Vash is quite the outdoorsman (seriously). If the zombie apocalypse even went down, I'd want it to be the day that I met Vash. He's probably got more valid use for a knife than a lot of folks.

I usually carry a pocket knife, and have used the snot out of several over the last 25+ years which is when I started carrying one pretty much every day.

What does asparagus have to do with knives? I don't think I've ever used a knife with asparagus either before or after cooking.

14 cameras on 40 acres, there aren't many places in that woods left to hide! And honestly we have 17 cameras going at any time. I forgot about the three non cellular cameras we have out.
