Is this front porch painted or stained?

What say you? There's color variation, but I'm not sure if I see grain or not, maybe.

Maybe a solid color stain (scratch a corner), but either way it's damn good looking.

Hard to tell exactly but I am going with a solid stain. Depending on the woods age and dryness the stain even a solid could be blotchy. At the same time it has the appearance of a painted deck that has been stained over. The center of the boards still retaining the paint. It almost look like the edges of the chipped paint, then the stain soaked in at the edge of the boards.

Look at the end of the boards (if you can see them) for primer (often used with paint). Also, look to see if it has soaked into the boards below the surface (stain more so than paint). I would have painted it myself (and suspect that is the case here)...but I would have used a nonslip gray. That is traditional in the south.

Nice home!

My guess is a "High/Semi Solids" stain like this: https://www.cabotstain.com/colors-and-finishes/families/Solids-Colors.html

I think its stain also because some of the grain is showing through on the floor. Unless its dirt or you have a dirty camera lens?

It's a picture from the Internet. The missus thought it was painted. I told her it looked like a stain to me.

Somebody has good taste. That looks fantastic. (I might have painted the lid light blue, as is tradition, but white looks great too.)

Don't discount that part of the reason that floor is so attractive is the full length boards and lack of visible fasteners. Paint or stain alone, either one, won't necessarily achieve that look completely.
