Tamiya 959

What’s that they say - as you get older, you get more childlike? I know that applies in your 90s but I guess I’m gonna get a head start. Found this while cleaning out a spare room. I think it just needs a battery and radio to be playablewith again? Body is incomplete and feels a little fragile, maybe I can find a replacement.

Hmm, just looked at what these go for on eBay - welp - there are repro bodies but I don’t think I’m getting an original replacement . . .

Do I really want to go thrashing this around in the mud? Maybe I should make it a display piece.

Display it after you mud it up!

That thing is cool!

Drop in a lipo battery and a brushless motor and have some fun with it on the street

Take it to a local hobby shop that sells and services RC stuff. They can give you tips on how to pair it with a transmitter.

You can use that body... the shop can give you tips on how to paint it... on the inside if you didn't already know... that's a polycarbonate body and it's not as fragile as it looks.

Running it in sand, loose dirt, or mud makes for nasty cleanup and maintenance (and speeds up wear and tear)... hard dirt or clay is better.

Or you can run it on asphalt (on different, more suitable tires) in an abandoned strip mall parking lot. Have you ever driven an RC car?

YT has a lot of videos on the Tamiya 959:

Just after finished high school I bought a Wild Willy.

- Fantastic fun times long before smart phones and the internet.
