Avoid Waste, Waste Time
Do you ever do things to avoid waste and then think you should have just added to the landfill?
I have some Makita toolboxes for NiMH tools that have been retired. I didn’t want to just throw those sturdy cases out. I got the idea of cutting the interior dividers out and turning them into general purpose toolboxes. So I get out the Dremel, it takes forever, I get out the angle grinder, it does the job but still takes 15 minutes, the interior looks raggedly, my hand is numb, and I don’t know WTH I’m going to use this case for. Line with foam for an incognito pistol case? Emergency kit for car? Emoilluements and essential bath oils? I think I wasted my time. |
Yep.

Dammit. Just the other day I thought of a use for one or two of these, I threw away all my old ones.
I ended up making some out of wood scrap. |
Somedays I feel like my whole life is a big arse makita toolbox.
KEEP CUTTING!!!!!! |
All part of a system when I load up the bicycle into my truck for away rides.
My thought was that the empty tool boxes might have fit into the milk crate. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1635121672.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1635121672.jpg |
Yes. And ultimately. I chuck it.

Years ago, I took the metal case that my Dewalt Cordless Drill/Battery/Charger kit came in and removed the metal dividers. I have been using it now for about 20 years to hold about 10 or so ratchet straps and keep it handing on the floorboard of the backseat in the Silverado.

I like the metal milk crates from the 1960's. They last a lot longer than the plastic ones.
