Saturday with Hurley
Great day today - PCA PNWR hosted Hurley Haywood up at Chris’ German in Redmond. Amazing stories from a real gentleman.

Hmm, tough choice - have Hurley regale me with tales of racing or take Liz for a drive....

In 2003 I was in the hotel elevator with him, just the two of us going down to the PCNA kickoff event for the Cayenne and I had no idea who he was. He had a shirt with a Porsche logo so I asked if he was there for the event. Downstairs I was told who he was when he had all his admirers flocking around him.

Not lost on me that the BFG car is wearing Eagles...
We do what we have to do, even if money is almost no object. Edit. If it was mine, I'd probably mount up Avons just because.

I saw Hurley at a PCA event several years ago and was a bit let down. He was interesting but didn't tell any "wow, that was a great racing story!" stories. He did sign my 930 tail tho.
I am curious if he seems more relaxed in his story telling now that he's revealed his big secret.

I've met him one-on-one twice, 1st at a Daytona IMSA race in the mid 70's and most recently at Leguna Seca for Rennsport VI in 2018. He was very friendly, outgoing and talkative on both occasions. I admire him for his personal honesty...by every measure a gentleman.
