I was diagnosed late onset Type 1 almost 5 years ago, so luckily I have not lived with this since I was a young person. The technology is so much better today.
Ironically, about a year before the onset of my disease, I saw this speaker at a Rotary meeting. Very engaging guy, not a doc, but has lived with diabetes most of his life. I ended up buying his book just to read about eating more healthy. My Doc thinks I'm an MVP with mine anywhere near 6.5 but of course I'm graded on a different curve. If you are worried about it, get a script for the Abbott Freestyle glucose monitor. It is a glucose sensor that reads your glucose level continuously and you scan it to read it anytime you want. It has changed my lfe. |

Blood sugar of 100 is pretty normal. It goes up a bit if you eat, what you eat impacts this.
If you are fat, you tend to body needs to make more insulin for a given amount of food to bring blood sugar in line. It you lose weight, exercise, eat less crap,your blood glucose tends to be more stable Stay fit, exercise and eat a reasonable diet. If you have a lot of stress in your life, do something about it. Stress can make your blood sugar go up, no seriously. |

When i make a burger at hpme i use 1 slice and use lettuce for the top half. I actually like it better that way. When i taste ice cream wt sugar it tastes too sweet..so i prefer no sugar. Once in awhile when i go out for prime rib i have a baked potatoe. I am gona make some clam chowder and am going to use some white t potatoes.. so sparingly is the operative word. What i miss the most is pizza.. |
Take a look at the Zone diet. Limit your processed foods and portion control.

We have an amazing independent donut shop close by that has incredible apple fritters. I ate massive amounts of all of this and still never crossed 170... usually between 165 and 168. But, I've seen the error of my ways and will continue to eat very healthy MOST of the time, track the numbers, and try not to sweat it when I do indulge. |

According to the test result for my A1C, the "normal range" is 4.8 to 5.6. My cardiologist ordered it and said at 5.2 I am well within 'normal range".
