Oktoberfest Beer Mugs
So I've been casually relearning German hoping to go this September for Oktoberfest, of course the Porsche factory and see a few friends as well. Youtube was helpful when I went to Paris two years ago and again for German. One of the channels I found was German Girl in America which is all about this girl's experience coming to live in Cincinnati. Not learning much German but she's very entertaining and has good cultural tips for going to Germany.
Anyway, she's from Munich (home to the Oktoberfest we know) and just created her own brand and has sourced authentic 1 liter beer mugs. I ordered one, thought others might like to as well since they are apparently the real deal. Her very excited video announcement and a link to her store. *PRE ORDER* Beer Mugs/Bierkrüge You can jump to 2:28 to hear about the mugs but worth the few minutes to start from the beginning.

I was fortunate to go to Oktoberfest in 2019. Crazy. I had no idea. It looks like I will be back in Germany in August. I will be looking for some good Hefeweizen.

Thanks, Shaun.
Never been to Germany, but on my bucket list. While I was living in the Fort Myers area here in Florida, I attended a few Oktoberfests hosted by the local German American Social Club, which consisted of a fairly large population of Germans and those with the heritage. It was GREAT fun and I hope to attend again one day. Cape Coral Oktoberfest – German American Social Club of Cape Coral, Florida

I went to the Oktoberfest a few times. Boy, talk about lots of people and lots of bier. Those tents are huge!
The last time was in 1980 when they had the bombing. There was a large crater right at the entrance. Very sad. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oktoberfest_bombing

Good point Rika, there are many more beer fests than the one in Munich. Here's a good video about it by her.

We all know what picture is coming. I'm surprised we made it 8 posts without seeing it.

The real Oktoberfest is something I really only needed to do once. I did it first in 1999 right after I had run the Berlin Marathon. I was in peak shape and hadn't been drinking at all for a month or so before the race. Even back then you needed reservations months or a year in advance to get into one of the tents at night. No problem for walk-ins during the day, but a connection at BMW got us on their guest list for the evening. Man, that was insane and we didn't pay a dime. Last time was 2015, but only because I was meeting some American buddies in Prague who insisted on going. Otherwise, hell to the no. I'll take a quiet beer garden anywhere around Munich instead of the big event. Augustinerbräu is the best beer in Germany and is only sold around Munich. No reason to go anywhere else when in that neck of the woods.

Thanks for posting. My ancestry on my dad's side is German. I'm interested in German culture etc.... Her channel is great! The content is really good, and her presenting is excellent. I've been watching it frequently since you posted (but in another thread, I think).

Never been there for Octoberfest...but have heard from others that the beer is very weak (abv) compared to beer here.
Is that true?

^^^ Maybe it's just the mugs that they serve in the outdoor tents??

You're talking about Germany, German beer and Oktoberfest. They don't F around with weak beer or that kind of BS. That's more of an American thing.

Augustiner Brau was always my favorite tent at Oktoberfest. That bier is nectar of the Gods!
