New Wheeler Dealers
Have you guys seen this? Two episodes on Discovery Plus today, maybe? The new mechanic is a guy named "Elvis" very likeable. The two episodes I have access to are a TVR and Mini and it's back in the UK.
|
I liked the one I saw about the MINI. Haven't seen the other, but 'Elvis' is good. Well qualified!

Always liked the show though I probably wouldn't buy one of their "restorations". I wonder hoe long Elvis will last?
I love Griffiths, especially the originals from mid 60's. Used to go to a local car place, Forest City Imports, and drool over them so often that the sales guys knew us and would let us sit in them for a bit. 2000# car with a 289 HiPo still gets my testosterone pumping. If I ever part with the 911...... Still way too many commercials on WD and MotorTrend in general. I record and then spend 40 minutes watching later. |
new mechanic Elvis??
Is it another Elvis than the one they had before? |
I have watched the two episodes. The TVR was a lucky find, an former works car, and they got full documentation of a factory engine upgrade.
What is scary, is the car had 50,000 miles, and the engine was already rebuilt at the factory, and the cam was worn down again. The Elvis says the engine should be good for another 50K miles. My small block went 300,000 miles and the cam had very little wear. The valves guides and rings were worn out but the cam was fine. It is the same show as before, just a different mechanic. Evidently he is a former F1 mechanic. |

I have seen several episodes with Elvis already.
Or I am losing my mind? Weird, I thought this was old news but Elvis is in fact new to the show. Extreme case of déja vu. |
Very extreme.

Elvis was on another car flipping show with Brewer last season.. I think he was a F1 mechanic in the past. |

https://www.discoveryuk.com/series/wheeler-dealers-dream-car-2/ If I were to rank them all I'd put Edd and Elvis at top of the heap. Ant was proficient and certainly knew his stuff but was a little too Hollywood or something (like more interested in being on TV). Edit: I'm happy the show is back in the UK. They seem to get more interesting vehicles over there and until now the prices were usually pretty low. That Mini was pretty costly. |
Wheeler Dealers dream car, that was it.
Thanks for clearing that up. I can rest easy now. :) |
Elvis seems like a nice guy... But to me Edd China was the best, Ant Anstead was also damn good and fabricating a lot, Elvis is more low key... It feels like the show has been recentered more around Mike Brewer and less about the mechanical stuff - it's therefore less interesting to me...
For those who have other platforms, I recently discovered Disney+ hides/carries 8 seasons of CarSOS (car sausage as they call it), a very good UK car show where they do entire restorations for deserving people... Both presenters are likable and the cars for the most past very cool.. I'd recommend that over the latest brewer stuff, no resale, 90% resto and 10% decent jokes... |
Wheeler Dealers is somewhat interesting until you’ve watched around a dozen episodes, then the extraneous bull**** gets a little old.
|
Well I still like it.

That is why I record it, and fast forward through the boring parts. |
