I feel for ya. Went through the same with both my parents at the same time. At first sign of decline do everything you can to get their finances and medical in line. We waited too late. Good luck.

Luckily with my Mom we were able to get control of her finances and she put POA documents in place years ago.
My ex father in law was a different story. He retired after a 34 year naval career as a Captain with a nice pension, beautiful home 100% paid for on 20 acres, etc. Years later he was destitute and what was left was sold at auction to pay his many debts. He was scammed, wasted money on *****, etc. My ex had tried for years to help him to no avail. She finally had to walk away due to his threats, loaning him money he never repaid, and more. Truly a sad and frustrating situation.
