"This new technology isn’t about playing personalised playlists or simply adjusting the tempo and pitch of existing music to match the car’s speed,” says Norman Friedenberger, Product Owner at Porsche Digital and the person responsible for Soundtrack My Life. “It's about creating an individual sound experience from a construction kit with a variety of sounds and musical structures during a drive. This is created by the driver and their journey in real time. This will then sound different for everyone – as unique as the journey itself."

Sounds great for you youngsters...Go for it. I can see where all electric cars need something...

As for me? Well, not for me.

(edit) I'll stick with this stock exhaust sound...ford spent time & money developing it for this specific special edition Mustang while still staying within federal guidlines.

I'm curious if the electronic background music in the video is what the finished product will sound like.

I don't see myself using it.

At about the 3 minute mark of the video...he describes it better.
Wouldn't be something that I would pay for...but it might be interesting to use.

I do think this will be big. Specially for all the new e-cars.

I'm old school though, and doing the door speaker/ radio delete on my 911 coming up here soon. Those speaker magnets are heavy!

It's not an exhaust/engine sound production....

" To do this, the driver first selects a basic musical mood, a soundtrack composed specifically for a particular driving situation. The software accesses pre-composed musical elements and, depending on the acceleration, speed and centrifugal forces in the car, changes the complexity of the mix of these individual elements, adding or removing tracks and sounds to rearrange everything again and again."

If it does take off I sure hope the new mixers (at least the software) will be backwards compatible because you know in five years the first gen stuff will be wanting.

The Motor Trend car of the year issue arrived here yesterday.

The winner? An electric somethin' or other.

As the kids say, it is what it is.

This old goat is thankful to have been around when it was what it was..

(edit) As shown by the flat 6 video above, there's just something way cool about a choppy idle:
