And a little habanero/onion/cilantro into the "whole berry" cran log tops it off.

Indeed. Oyster dressing/stuffing was a favorite of my dad and his side of the family.

Which is weird 'cause dad grew up on a Iowa farm in the Great Depression. He moved here to Florida (Gainesville) in the late 50s/early 60s as did his parents (Brooksville).

How the heck would poor Iowa farm folk know about oysters of the non-rocky-mountain variety?

Happy Turkey Day, guys! My family friends cooked me a bird with mash, sweet potatoes, dressing, veges... I am thankful for great friends, and that my mom is on the mend!

We aren't big fans of turkey. Wife manages a retail store, all hands on deck Black Friday, so we ALWAYS host Thanksgiving. Fun time with family, a few generations. We do prime rib (22 lb., Angus), ham (10 lb; I tried out a new cajun rub and I liked it), and the "usual" side dishes. Wife makes fresh cranberries that I'm told were delicious (I hate cranberries). Sister-in-law brought several pies and homemade rolls.

It was a good day, and as usual, I cook WAY too much. Even after sending food home with people, we'll be eating leftovers for several days ;)

Wife and I are going to a vegan Thanksgiving at the Hippocrates Health Center in West Palm Beach. It is the wife’s idea. :D I am looking forward to it.

I hate Turkey.
Went to little Saigon and bought me a fresh Duck.
Going to smoke it on my Trager with Mesquite.

I always make a point of writing the Menu in French (with English subtitles) to drive my Father-In-Law up the wall. He always asks for seafood and a red meat in addition to the standards. Regardless, it's always fun to watch him rant over the French structure...

I love the menu idea!

Our turkey is from Popeye's this year. I hear they're good, I'll give my opinion tomorrow.

Hi David- Based on YouTube reviews alone, you won't be disappointed.

For the first year in forever I'm not hosting, not cooking, and not going anywhere. Grandson is coming to pick up Vicki to take her to the family feast at her son's house, and I am staying at home, resting, and relaxing. I'm deciding what special cocktail I might like in the afternoon and heading to the liquor store. I haven't thought about food yet.

This year, our family meal will be for roughly 25 people. Turkey (smoked), ham, and prime rib are the proteins. All the other traditional (and some not so traditional) fixin's will be had, as well. Gonna be a lot of cooking tomorrow.

Evans, Marv 11-26-2025 01:16 PM

A bunch of my wife's family will be here tomorrow. We'll have turkey (I'm cooking that), prime rib, ham, seafood, potatoes, brussel sprouts, other vegetables, different kinds of pies, etc. I'll be only eating small portions of all that. Everybody else will do a good job of stuffing themselves.

GH85Carrera 11-26-2025 03:26 PM

Smoked Turkey.
Dressing.
Mashed potatoes and gravy.
Crescent rolls.
Apple Dumplings with vanilla ice cream on top.
Burp.
