I propose a Waltz! Upbeat, happy and would certainly be remembered by your daughter!

The sentiments expressed here... if taken as the bride hoping she could find a guy just like her dad, could be perfect, but it may fit better as the first dance for bride and groom... one of Van's most beautiful songs...
Or you could use this one for the father-daughter dance. But be ready with a hankerchief... or two...

Second dance is usually the Mom with Dad, and the new bride and groom with each other:

Choosing the music was pretty easy compared to writing the vows and ceremony (and convincing the pastor and two getting married)...as the kids wanted something not very religious and we knew the crowd would not appreciate that (Catholic groom and Protestant bride). Never thought about it until the last minute. We ended up with something that I wrote stealing heavily from the internet that was more traditional and in the end, my daughter loved it (although not at first). I hate to say it, but the wedding and reception is as much about the mothers of the bride and groom and guests as it is about the two getting married...similar to a funeral which is really for the living. I must say that our daughter's wedding was the biggest and best party ever. We really, really enjoyed it. The bride still talks about it glowingly. Everything turned out perfect. I wish the same for Mike and his family.

If/when my grand daughter gets married, I will sing her the song I wrote before she was born called "Take My Hand". However, this summer I started hearing a song on the radio called "If You Love Her " by Forest Blakk. When I first heard it, I thought,"Wedding dance with Dad"

Just be careful not to use one that sounds like you want to date your daughter...just sayin...LOL
Went to a wedding once where the father/daughter song made everyone give each other "that look"...because they know who chose the song. Our Elvis impersonator did one of the top Elvis hits later in the show (one of my favorites) Don't be Cruel and he joked..."Who picked that one out...are they trying to tell us something?"...and it got a big laugh. Strange how people seem so acutely aware of everything in a wedding. Every unmarried girl/woman is dreaming of the one they/their baby will have some day (and mentally evaluating each part for inclusion in their future dreams) and every young man is wondering how they can meet the bridesmaids. I enjoyed my daughter's (as I was the boss) but was scared to death for mine...as I was pretty young and my father in law was pretty scary (and spent a good deal of money on the event). I was afraid I would screw it up/say the wrong thing and disappoint my bride and her family (seemed like I was in a school play and had to remember my lines)...but 45 years later, the photos look like I was killing it (so I must have fooled everyone) and my bride was clearly the most beautiful woman in the world. Good times. My daughter waited until she was much older (after she finished her Medical school), so even the group her age was a little older crowd and they were much more relaxed and it was more of a big party (gave me more time to save up for the event as well). Big fun! Yes Bob, I know my stories are boring.

And you can't go wrong with "Old Blue Eyes". What beautiful Bride wouldn't want to be twirled around the dance floor by her Dad being complimented on her looks by Frankie...

Bunches, but "My Father's Eyes" by EC works. Stevie Wonder songs and all the Van songs mentioned.
My daughter already knows what the F/D song will be at her wedding. Nice thing is the song has a great walk up and you can bring the rest of the folks in at the bridge. Get the lyrics, they are great. This my wife and I's first dance music over 30 years ago:

"Happy Sad" from the Addams Family musical. I plan on singing it at my daughter's wedding someday. It's about the father feeling happy and sad at the same time.

Tim McGraw, My Little Girl. It's the song we used. Not a dry eye in attendance...including me.
This is not his Official video, but has the lyrics, watch this first. Guys are visual, this way you'll picture your daughter first. ( mic drop ) ![]()

Really like this one. I’d never heard it before. The only apprehension is the lyric toward the end when he says no man will be good enough for you. Although I agree, the groom and his family may be put off by that. Should I let that concern me? The rest of the song is about perfect.
