Grohe kitchen Faucet, POS
Just a warning of what not to buy, looks like their quality has gone downhill, this one started leaking at a quick connect coupling at three years, now the casting or a weld joint is leaking at less than four years, parts NLA.
Their customer service is as bad as the faucet. So I need to pick from a newer model line likely lower quality, find one that I could put up with, she says it is in stock should ship in a couple of days, week later I call and something went wrong should ship in a couple days, call today and the person I speak with says no stock, should be in stock about two weeks from now and then eight to ten days to ship to me, WTF, this is a kitchen faucet sort of required in a kitchen. Likely on a ship arriving from China. Trying to get them to ship me a different model that is in stock. Grohe is now owned by a company by the name of Lixil, they also own American Standard. I gave up on their kitchen faucets years ago. Now I feel better.

I believe I had a similar experience. Pay premium. Get low quality. Not a good thing.

Our entire house has Grohe faucets. We installed them 8 years ago. No problems at all.

Grohe has slipped in their quality, that much I agree but that's the American Standard of Germany. Try Hans Grohe. They are sister companies when the older brother separated from the original co. (I think that's how that story goes?). their fit and finish is much better. There's always KWC which I really like.

I warranty some older soap dispenser about 4 months ago for an old client, they shipped them out within 10 days after a simple phone call. That is the one company that still answers their phone calls which I really like.

I always have good luck with Moen , even when purchased from big box store . My oldest son likes Delta in his house and past houses he has owned . Same thing he has had good luck with them .

Dan, 8 years ago they were still the original Grohe, Lixil acquired them in 2014, apparently the quality went down from there, likely manufactured in different plants. I installed a original Grohe in our previous house it had no problems, this one looks the identical but they changed a couple things, they likely had some snowflake engineer figure out where to make it cheaper. For any warranty they want a copy of the original bill of sail, I had it but not everybody keeps the invoices.
I have started looking for a replacement, I have had no problems with Moen so will likely go with them but will check the KWC line. I am still on them to replace this one though.

I am curious to hear what the consensus is for a good kitchen faucet. I can only tell you what sucks.
I have never had anything last more than about 5 years. When I bought the house it came with a Moen. All white hardware, so I replaced that twice. Then I had enough and 2 years ago I bought a "Kraus" - which has a fake German name - it is an American company that produces in Asia. Nice design. The valve is great but the shower head has given out TWICE in 2 years. Their customer service is outstanding, they have lifetime warranty, so I have gotten new heads sent out every time. But who has time for that? I'd rather have something that's solid. At any rate, I plan on new shower heads from Kraus until they are NLA but then I'll need to do something about it. It will be time to switch to all bright hardware, since white is not easy to come by these days and limits my choices. The worst thing about all this is that changing a kitchen faucet is such a PITA (or neck / back) having to crawl in there and work in a very tight space. G |

Hans Grohe's Axor line are great stuff.
George, sometime style had a lot to do with the different brands. For modern styling, I like KWC (Last I check, they are still made in Switzerland) and Franke or Blanco (still German). I have had great luck with their products. Newport Brass and Cal Faucet are also good products but they seem to have more traditional styling (some modern designs as well). I have always joke with my supplier's sales people that when I grow up, I will eliminate all my Hans Grohe Axor line through our my house and buy a house full of KWC. I have Newport brass in my Master. Its been on there for over 15 years now. No real issue but a dirty stem which I changed couple years back. Took all of 15 min. I normally stay away from those Karus or internet brands but I do like Moen due to their customer service. their styling, not so much. |

We have Moen too, now Delta, I found out they have a lifetime warranty and I had issues with taps leaking, the model we have is discontinued so they sent me 6 valves before supplies run out - great company!

Blanco, made in Italy. We’ve had two over 20 years in the kitchen. One had a seal problem after 10 years of continuous use. Called Blanco customer service, no parts available so they sent me a new $400.00 fixture for free! Still use it daily after almost 10 years, no problem. We also bought an undercounted hand soap dispenser from Blanco years ago, still going strong.
