Hearing aids

I got hearing aids today… now I can’t eat potato chips. Way too loud. This will take some getting used too.

My dad has a set that he absolutely loves. Bluetooth connectivity to his phone so he can answer his phone and talk through his hearing aids.... but they're a bit "spendy"

I understand. I've been telling my wife she needs them.
Did you compare Rexton to other brands? I was wondering why you chose that brand?

Cab - what is "spendy"? We talked to one company that wanted $4-6k and that wasn't their top of the line!

I went to Costco. The Audiologist compared the Rexton to the Kirkland. The Rexton was clearer. $1899 out the door. Two year warranty. One year against loss. My biggest fear is losing one. It’s going to happen.

I'll have to ask my dad. I know his last set was in the range you mention but I think his new set was more. I'll be talking to him tomorrow morning. I'll let you know what brand and how much.

Ha! I think my dad has lost two now. I know for sure he flipped one out while he was at a stone quarry a few months ago. But then again he has walked into the small lake he owns forgetting that his phone was in his pocket. Did the same at my sis's house getting in her pool. Good thing he has the money to afford the mistakes!

I've got a Resound hearing aid (right ear only has hearing loss) from Costco. $1200 or so about 2 years ago.

I tend to lose things small. Glasses flipped off my face pruning a tree. Took my wife and me a couple hours to find them.

A friend of mine found a hearing aid on the street. (She recognized it because her mom wears the same ones)

She took it to a local audiologist and they were able to match up serial numbers to some database and get it back to the owner.
I thought that was pretty cool, because apparently some h/a's are heart-attack provokingly expensive.

My wife says I need hearing aids, she says something in the extra bedroom two floors up and I'm in the garage, and she can't understand why I don't hear her.

$5,000+??? I'm good with not hearing tripe.

I can still hear the tick of my Rolex in my right ear, not so much the left ear...

They are, when I had my accident in January, the force knocked them out of my ears, and being silver, like the glass all over the inside of the 968, my friends who looked for them in the car, never found them.
And yes, they are crazy expensive, at least mine were.

Hearing Aids
Purchased 01/25/2019 at COSTCO HEARING AID CENTER.
MAKE: PHONAK BRIO 3
Right Hearing Aid 1276024 Brio 3 R-R RIC Right $1,349.99
Left Hearing Aid 1276024 Brio 3 R-R RIC Left $1,349.99
Accessory 1277187 Phonak Power Pack $99.99
Accessory 1277188 Phonak Charger Case $99.99
Accessory 108961 Phonak ComPikot Air II $99.99
Total Cost: $3,026.20
Best deal I could find with all the bells and whistles and there was a FULL 6 MONTH REFUND for any reason. The customer service was /is great as I have had to go back a few times for some fine tuning and they are there for any assistance I need with questions or more fine tuning.
I wore them ALL DAY every day for almost 2 years then the inside of my ears started itching/tickling (both ears)after a few hours when wearing them. So much itching/tickling that I’d take them out and try again the next day. SAME PROBLEM AROSE. In talking with other hearing aid wearers some said the same thing and recommended I put a drop of Baby Oil in my ears. I tried and it kinda sorta worked, maybe letting me wear them for an additional few hours?
SO, I have made an appointment with an ear specialist to see what is going on and if there is anything wrong with my ears (besides not working). My regular doctor suggested I go to an established hearing aid shop in San Carlos and see if maybe my “all the way in the ear hearing aids” are not right for me and maybe look at some others that fit like the Apple Ear Pods.

…oof…don’t get me started. Tinnitus is rampant in my bucket.

I’m sure H/A’s are in my future.
