Five years ago had a blood panel and it showed I was dangerously low in platelets.
Bone marrow biopsy. Head to toe intense pain. Diagnosed with Leukemia and Lymphoma along with Polycythemia and Thrombocytopenia. Had a second one two months ago and it showed numbers still close to what they were 5 years ago. So no chemo yet just Phlebotomies to get rid of excess blood. |
I had a rather large but benign skin tumor removed from the cheek a few years ago. I called a friend in the ENT dept and he told me to come up in an hour or so. I thought I would have a laugh and secretely applied a surface anesthetic cream we use for bloodsamples with children. Very effectiv superficially.
Came into her office and sat down. Said go right ahead doc I am in a bit of a hurry. She said sure Markus but first the anesthetic. I said skip it. She said you are crazy this will hurt like hell with the scalpell. I said no worries go ahead. She started cutting slowly. I felt nothing so she finished the whole procedure and she was absolutely bonkers impressed I had not said a word. I let her believe I was the coolest dude in the hospital for about a year before I told her the truth. She said she always knew. Nobody could take that pain without a peep but she let me hang on to the superman roll anyway. |
I had a prostate biopsy. It was not fun. It was negative, fortunately, but I did learn something. Apparently, it is not a good idea to exercise your prostate right before a PSA test.
