Telling our age

Board members are now officially elderly.

I mean, all these threads about urinary tracts, bowels, and other medical things.

If that doesn't indicate geezerdom, I don't know what does.

The flock is aging!

aschen 12-03-2021 10:55 AM

I come to this board to feel young, I feel like an antique in most corners of the internet at 45.

I'm enjoying the Kominsky Method on Netflix, probably because I can relate.

mgatepi 12-03-2021 11:01 AM

My body is 60+, my brain is 35

It's always a little surprising to me when someone here mentions there age and it starts with a 7_, and even the 6_s are a little surprising. Of course, that's probably part of the reason that we've got so much knowledge here, many, many years of hanging around.

I'm sure I'm an oldster to aschen being barely into the 5_s, but I don't feel old. The only indication to me is that I wear glasses now. And they are progressives...

How about a thread for those of us with bad teeth?
I have a front one that is giving me problems.

In my defense... I was only 40 when I found Pelican over two decades ago... and Mick Jagger lied!

Time ain't on my side :D

I'll admit it, I'm old, but I still plan putting 63 miles behind me on my 63rd with the help of these carbon-fiber tubes:

Something to look forward to.

^^^ I thought about doing something like that for my 68th (a couple weeks ago) but the weather here didn't cooperate.

Nice bike.

Yes that is a beautiful bike above. I find that putting studded tires on my mountain bike has made biking fun in the winter. Everybody tells me now don't fall off your bike.

Feeling ancient here lately.
Went to the ER 3 weeks ago after picking up a log to put on my wood splitter. Pinched my Sciatic nerve apparently. Left leg is still numb from the knee down to my ankle.
I'm getting around ok. Did a brake job on a GMC dually today.
Hoping things get back to normal at some point.
Turned 68 last month.

stevej37 12-03-2021 12:15 PM

^^^ Ha!...I turned 68 last month also. My sciatic nerve flared up a couple months ago.
Mornings are great...until my body weight pinches it enough to cause severe back pain.
I can tell it's coming on by the tingling in my feet.

Have you ever tried/used an inversion table? 5 minutes upside down might help decompress and provide relief.

stevej37 12-03-2021 12:22 PM

^^^ I have one...just haven't tried using it yet. I did some floor exercises that are supposed to stretch/loosen the vertebrae....none helped.

Thanks for suggesting that...I might dig it out and try it.

Don't cheap out and just get the inversion boots if you don't have the core strength to do an inverted situp! People get stuck hanging upside down in a doorway - like a bat!

I'm 62 but when buying alcohol at the supermarket I say to the girls ""Ï know I don't look over 18 but I am, honestly." It gives them a good laugh. Some old nutter thinking he's funny.
