Replaced the Cayman

Drove this 350 miles home last night. My Garmin died half way. Not really a problem but aggravating. Got about 28 mpg. 75 mph in the Smokies. Just turned 78,000 miles. 6.0 LS2, 6 speed automatic, low option car. Way too cushy for me. I never had anything so soft and quiet. I hope I get used to it. May have to put 80 psi in the tires and get some stiff shocks.

Lots of interior plastics?

Nice car but a Z06 would fix all of your listed complaints!

JackDidley 12-04-2021 04:40 PM

About the same as the Cayman, I think. Leather seats. At least there is no soft vinyl coating to peel off.

No automatic in the Z06. My 69 year old left knee has been complaining about the clutch work.

WPOZZZ 12-04-2021 04:44 PM

How much bigger does it feel compared to the Cayman?

Feels huge. Strange. Doesnt seem to fill up the garage any more but from inside the car it seems huge. I need to look up the dimensions.

Enjoy the ride...and I hear you on the clutch problem. My knee is okay, but a snapped left foot tendon makes clutch wok problematic. The other problem is, other than that, I like the Mustang...don't really want to sell it.

Cayman 70.9 inches wide Vette 72.6 inches wide. Cayman 172.1 long, Vette 174.6. Corvette is about 200 pounds fatter.

Not by the numbers but they drive soooo differently. It will take some getting used to. I would not want it to be any bigger.

Looks like it’s been well cared for.

Ok. I'd imagine this isn't news to you but it seems worth repeating!

Edit: It's not a bad thing for a fast car to also be comfortable, quiet, reliable and affordable as long as it can scare you a little when asked. Who wouldn't want a totally trustworthy pet lion?

Nice, enjoy. That's a nice benefit of torque of the V-8 is the stellar mileage. I don't get close to that in my Boxster S. I think if I really try, I can get 23mpg on the freeway, but that's really boring and hard to do. I think I'm normally in the 19-21mpg range. I bet on flat ground closer to sea level you'd get 30+.

Looks nice. There are times that I think it would be fun to have one, and to be able to play with the V-8 torque.

Enjoy!

gold chain included?
or is that a Canadian thing? :)

Looks nice travel anywhere and easy and cheap to fix.
What a relief to not have to pay the Porsche tax on repairs.
I'm still waiting to find the right C6Z06 at the right price.
So I may be waiting for a while longer.

The Porsche tax had me worried. Cayman was at 98,000 miles. LS motors are cheap in comparison.

I'm guessing the Canadian Corvette "thing " might be fuzzy dice. I did a tour of the Tidal Power facility a few years back for a Corvette club and they gifted me a pair.
They're yours if you want them. :D

Best

The gold chain looks really good with a chest carpet behind it. They're only $9.99 on Amazon.
