That's great and will make life easier. I think the reason LR has a bad reputation is because repairs can be daunting but with the right software its actually fairly easy.

Love my 2020 Diesel.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1639594047.JPG |
I replaced the MAF sensor last week. No smog joy. Yesterday I replaced the PCV valve, air/oil separator, and adjoining hoses. Still throwing the P1170 and P1173 fault codes. I smoked the intake system and the exhaust system. No leaks. I bore scoped the front and back sides of the catalytic convertors. Not melted. WTH! I am thinking this thing needs new cats. I went out this morning and ran the readiness monitors near the smog station. They popped less then a quarter mile from the station so I headed straight there and got it smogged. Finally! Now I can cruise for awhile before replacing the cats. I can't think of anything that I have not done that would trip these codes. Accept for the cats.

Doesn't that motor have part of the crankcase ventilation system under the timing cover ?

Not exactly within your MY range, but here’s my ‘07 L322 Supercharged. 329,000 miles. Original Engine & Transmission (& almost everything else). Paid $4,900 for it when it only had 280k on the odometer.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1639868226.jpg It was meticulously maintained by its (one) previous owner. Pretty quick considering how it weighs as much as a 3-bedroom house. Weekends/after work/when I can find time to reassemble it, ‘85 Ninety that’s getting a Puma dash, LS engine, 6-speed auto, and several other upgrades... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1639868360.jpg Rover on! |

Love your project Rover! Now that I can breathe a little easier since I got the smog cert, I am willing to dump a bit more money into this beast. I have two years before it needs to be smogged again. My next step is to tackle the oil leaks. I am going to start with resealing the oil pan first. Clean it up. Re-check to see what else is pouring. It will probably need new valve covers. The valve covers are magnesium like the 85 on 928 cars. They warp and get perousity. I even ordered a second key/remote for it since I only had one. $$$ My wife has already done wonders with the interior clean up. I actually took it to the car wash and got the outside reasonably back to normal. I see that you are doing an engine swap on the project. I would love to ditch the BMW engine for a Toyota Tundra engine. I wonder if anyone has done that. This is not photoshop. This is a very small human working on the car. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1639870860.jpg |
Hind sight. The woman drying the car was awesome. I told her I appreciated her work. I hugged her, tipped well, and wished her a great Christmas and a great New Year.
