When you read this thread and can relate to every post and have some to add to it but then can't remember what they are.

When one of your early memories is the celebration fireworks for the state you are living in to become a state in the union. How many other members on the board were in a US territory as it became a state?

when you are standing in line or coffee and fumbling wIth your itunes on the ipad and the first few notes of GIMME SHELTER comes on... then some millenial in front of you turns around and says to you... "THATS MY FAVORITE BEATLES SONG!.."

Oregon became a state in 1859....but I remember the centennial celebration well. I was a high screwall sophomore. :(

I also remember when both Alaska and Hawaii joined up. Which were you in?

I grudgingly admit to being born in a US territory before it became a state

We lived in the Hawaii territory. Then the new state of Hawaii.

It is one of my earliest memories. Lots of fireworks and celebrations.

One of my earliest memories was the flight to Hawaii in a C-54, seated, facing the tail of the aircraft. Imagine flying to Hawaii in an unpressurized, prop airplane. 190 mph at 10,000 ft and nothing but ocean waves to look at. 2,556 miles, 14 hours of droning of the engine. At one point I asked my mom "did we move here, is this our new home?" It was just forever.

It takes a C-54 14 minutes 36 second to get off the ground and up to 10,000 feet. Not a real performance air frame.
