This silver Carrera GT recently appeared on Copart's salvage auction website and is currently up for bidding with nine days remaining. Located in St. Louis, Missouri, it carries a Missouri Salvage certificate of title and an odometer reading of 8384 miles. According to the listing, the car runs and drives, though pictures show a damaged front end and a deployed passenger airbag. From these photos alone it seems the car can be repaired, but there's no telling just how much damage the carbon fiber monocoque sustained in the impact. Considering it was totaled out, we're betting this car needs a whole lot more than just a new bumper cover.

While replacing a bunch of parts might be expensive, buying this Carrera GT might still be worth it, at least for some people. Buying and repairing it likely won't cost as much as buying a clean one in similar condition, though there's a chance it still might not drive as nicely even after the repairs, especially if there's frame damage. And the accident history won't help resale value, either. But if you've always wanted a Carrera GT but couldn't quite afford one, this could be your unicorn.

The car is currently sitting at a high bid of $362,000 on Copart's website as of this writing, with nine days remaining and a reserve that hasn't been met. Better make your move quickly if you're interested.

I wonder what the salvage value was to the owner who got paid out? I would have kept it for sure.

The $400k reserve seems high but in today's market, who knows?

You could easily spend over $100k getting something like that back on the road.

Regardless the history of that car will always be tainted.

If I had a wrecked CGT, I'd want insurance to cover it (at replacement value).

Fixed one years ago, parts were Ferrari expensive. The engine cover alone was over $60,000.00

....and you can buy a GT4 that is faster for 1/3 of that, no repairs needed. Not the same thing I know, but time is cruel to old icons...

It would be super interesting to have comparison between the two.

I believe that I've read that the GT2RS is faster. You're saying that the GT4 (presumably the newest RS version only) is faster. Which aspects? It looks like it may be faster 0-60 according to online numbers, despite being over 100hp down, 100lbft of torque down, and 100# heavier. I'm guessing the difference is either due to 15+ years of tire technology or gearing or both. 1/4 mile times are about the same (edge going to the CGT). And top speeds are close (CGT adding ~10mph).

Still, the price difference for comparable performance is shocking.

Still, if I was offered a CGT or GT4 RS both free and with no cost to me for insurance, maintenance, etc..., I feel certain that I'd go with the CGT. If I had to pay, then clearly, I'd be going for the GT4 RS, unless I won one of those billion dollar lotteries.

There is zero comparison between a CGT and a GT4, not even in the same league.

You can say that again.

There is no bargain hypercar.
