Frustrating- P car for sale no response from seller

Just need to vent 😋. There is a Porsche for sale listed on this site . Only contact info in the ad is to PM the seller . I did so this past Saturday and I received a reply back late Saturday night with a phone number to call .

Started calling on Sunday and immediately get a message stating " all circuits are busy " , this has been like that for four days now 😡. I have sent 4-5 follow up PM's providing my email address and my cellphone number . I also sent two text messages to the phone number the seller provided .

At this point in time I don't see anything more I can do . Yes it's a busy holiday time of year but a simple reply takes just seconds . I hope the seller is ok because anything can happen . Just frustrating as I was really interested in the car . And the seller is no newby , he has over 700 postings on here . Oh well thanks for letting me vent 😁

I think that it might be Christmas in some parts of the world and people are traveling, etc.

I answered an ad for a metal lathe, heard nothing, followed up a week later with a message, "If it's sold, why not take the ad down?" Still Nothing until 3 weeks rolled by. A month later I had the lathe. I almost shot my self in the foot being terse about the no response, so lesson learned as I got about 2K worth of lathe and accessories for 500 bucks.

I'd say stay at it as politely as possible given the frustration. And remember, 90% of sellers are total dicks. It's the few that keep you in the game occasionally buying used stuff. Gotta go through a lotta hay to find the needle.

I agree with this advice. ^^^

You never know when or if someone is going through a family emergency or health situation so you don't want to be the guy who was rude in correspondence. The seller will delete your messages and move on to the next person.

This is good advice but it didn't work for me when I found, what I am almost certain, was my 240Z from the 80s, for sale on CL. It was this exact time of year, insanely cold, like -20F day after day. Emailed and then called and talked, let him know the special nature of the car, when can I see it, I would definitely buy it if it were my old car or not. It was too cold to see it he said. And his wife was in the hospital. So for 3 weeks I contacted him, very gently, 3 times via text and asked when I could see it but each time he was focused on his wife. In between Christmas and NYear's, I texted one more time and he said he just sold it.

Win some, lose some.

CL ad. Color (Camaro color), wheels, Webers, headers, it had to be my car from 1985.

This crap drives me nuts.
Why put it up for sale if you are going to do this?

I agree and that's why I never buy use stuff as much as I like to dig through ads at times. This goes for both seller and buyers. Buyers will email or text with the burning desire to buy but when I return their message, nothing, not a freaking thing then sometimes, they called back a week or two later. Isn't it common decency to just return a message. It takes 10-20 seconds especially with a cell phone today?

People frequently complain about flaky buyers.

Sellers are often little different.

The "all circuits are busy" seems totally strange. I'd just be patient .... easier said than done, and wait for a reply. Stuff happens.... mebbe this forum and selling a car isn't even on his radar right now. Best of luck!

No one said you were anything less. I was making a side point about when things get frustrating and you just figure you got a hold of one of the 90% of dicks. Most of the time I just want to beat the sihit out of CL sellers.

I advertised a bunch of surplus holiday lights early in the month. The wife immediately got a hold of me and asked how much for the entire lot? I told her I'd add it up and subtract something like 20%. Easily over $100 retail and I came back with 40 bucks. She said great.

Comes with hubby at 5:30pm to pick everything up and I had an extension cord handy to test. Most were still NIB. After testing a few, he says. "Would you take 35?"

It it wasn't for his young child there, and obviously excited, he would have gotten a lot more than, "Nope" from me. I know where they live and after telling me they were planning major renovations, I was pretty pissed about his trying to squeeze me for five bucks after the deal was struck.

A 90 percenter, for sure.

At some point, your pestering emails messages and calls end up in the spam folder.

Depends on the seller.

Same thing for me on a FB ad for a surfboard.

Sent several PM's. Even called a phone number plus sent an email to a place listed as his place of employment.

No reply.

OTOH a couple weeks ago I responded to a FB ad for a ladder. The seller left his phone number. He answered when I called and an hour later I was at his place picking it up.

Selling-buying can be so easy.......and yet sometimes so hard.

The key is just to understand that sometimes it's just not going to happen unless both parties have their freaking act together.
