Hey! A white Christmas here?
Is shortly before midnight on the 25th, still considered Christmas day? If so, maybe I can claim that we did have a white Christmas. That's when the flakes started falling. Pretty rare to get snow here...which is good. I'd much rather watch it drain away that have to shovel it. Awoke to see around 4" of the white stuff covering everything.
Snow that would have a midwesterner smiling will cause problems here. The silver lining is that body shop owners are rubbing their hands in anticipation. Willamette Valley drivers are used to driving in rain, but few have a clue about how to drive on snow. Also, not many run snow tires. Haven't turned on the TV, but can imagine the coverage out of Portland...footage of cars colliding like pool balls after a break shot, young bimboette "reporters" standing out in the snow, reporting on what anybody with a window already knows. For Cindy & I, it's kind of a comedy show. We're well supplied. Will just stay in until it all melts and drains away. My only concern is hoping the power stays on. No power means no well for us...no running water. So far so good. The usual weather pattern of above freezing and rain is predicted to return in 5 or 6 days.

Christmas day here was just the normal cold/wet until we went North about 15 minutes to dinner at my Sister's place where the hills has just a touch of snow.
It started snowing pretty good from 4 pm until 6 so got to drive home in a couple inches of beautiful fresh snowfall! Perfect end to a great Christmas day with our son home from LA and a delicious Christmas dinner! 6 PM This morning

Skip, is that heat tape on the hummer feeder? Cindy's bringing ours in at night, back out early A.M.
How do you rig it?

Yep, pull the feeder down, give it a through cleaning and wrap heat trace tape round and round.
I use the shortest length I could find, wrap it round till it's about where you want it and I use clear packing tape to secure- usually with my wife's help hanging on while I tape- she's very trusting! Then I refill and hang er up

^^^ I swap feeders in the cold. Have one inside that defrosts and one outside for the birds. Mine has been packed all day. They like the sugar!

Last night, right before dark, I saw three hummers just sitting on one of my feeders. Occasionally they would take a sip but for all intents and purposes it looked like three guys who just got off work sitting around the bar having a cold one before they went home to the nest. All day long, these guys chase each other like the Hatfields and the McCoys, but I guess at night it's just "we didn't get much done today but we'll hit it hard tomorrow" Nature, amiright?

Minutes after writing that last post I checked the feeder and this evening there's four birds dreading going home to face the old ball-and-chain and a nest full of brats:
